The onsen was great

We were not spending the night here but used the onsen to refresh ourselves. Admission is about 1200 yen per person and there is an outdoor bathing area, although there is really nothing much to see from there. The hotel is about a 8 minute walk up the hill from the information center. I recommend bringing a towel before you go.

Cancellation fee

My husband canceled the day before because he didn't get coronavirus. 80% cancellation fee charged, response tasteless. There is no way that the cancellation fee will be charged 60 days prior to your stay. What do we prepare for 60 days in advance? Please be careful when making reservations.

I wouldn't say it's the worst, but...

I was surprised that the room had no windows. The hotel advertises private open-air baths, but they have removed all the windows and spaces that would have once been there to enjoy the view, and remodeled it into a semi-open-air bath. Of course, there is no hot spring. It is just a bath. There is no air in the room, and the morning sunlight does not reach it. Even after dawn, the room is pitch black.
The futon is laid out in the room, and there is not a single chair. There is not even a simple stool. There is only a thin wooden floor chair and a thin cushion. There was an electric massage machine that was strangely stylish and out of place, but it was only used as a chair.
The meal was in a private room-style restaurant, which is popular these days, and the woman who guided me was polite and likable, but the air conditioning was too hot and I left my seat early. I was looking forward to the sushi, but the sushi rice was not very good and I was unable to finish it, so I took it back to my room for dinner, but I ended up not eating it.
Breakfast was also in the same private room. The guide's explanation was very hard to hear, and I had to ask him to repeat himself. However, the breakfast was delicious. I don't think there's any need to reheat the miso soup in a small iron pot using solid fuel...
It was my first trip to Arima Onsen, but the hotel I chose wasn't the best... What a shame.

Beautiful Japanese KAISEKI dishes

We have lovely experience at ARIMA ROYAL HOTEL. Onsen in hotel was average but the food was wonderful ( but just be sure you like this kind of sensitive flavour , otherwise you better eat outside )
Futon bed was super clean and comfortable . Lovely service :)

Great solid traditional Japanese Onsen Hotel with yummy Kaiseki dinner

There are nicer hotel but this one is solid. clean and nice, not big but it has all the elements of traditional Onsen hotel that I wanted my family to experience. Tatami room, eating beautiful yummy dinner in the room. Nice outdoor Onsen pool.
