Fantastic Experience!

what a treat! My room was overlooking a stream and a small forest, and the color-changing of the trees was just spectacular. Hotel itself very nice 5star, rooms are gorgeous with a small seating area. And such nice ceramic onsen on a balcony with natural hot springs water to soak in.... what a way to end and begin your day!
I have also had a traditional Japanese massage; oh it was the best one I ever had! And, it was what I needed. Not to be missed.
And now dinner; At least 10 courses each dish purely delicious, and food would just melt in your mouth. Excellent service, excellent presentation, and excellent dining experience.
Breakfast traditional Japanese breakfast; great taste of local foods.

A Wonderfully Relaxing Stay

My mother and I loved our stay at Yusen Shidate. We took the free shuttle bus from Shin-Hanamaki Station to the ryokan. The ryokan has a welcoming atmosphere with modern decor and lots of inviting sitting space next to wide windows, the better to enjoy looking at the surrounding scenery. The staff were polite and helpful.
Each room comes with a private rotenburo on a balcony. We had a good time soaking while watching snow falling in a flurry at night. The public rotenburo is also gorgeous.
Dinner and breakfast was a feast to both the eyes and the stomach.
After dinner, there was a free bar at the lounge just outside the dining room. In the morning, coffee was served at the same lounge after breakfast.
As mentioned on other review, Yusen Shidate has a sister hotel next door (Shidotaira Hotel) and they are joined by a private corridor. The staff gave us the key to the corridor during check-in and we took a look around the much bigger hotel and browsed the comprehensive souvenir store.
Overall, it was a very satisfying stay and I would not hesitate to stay at Yusen Shidate again if I ever visit Shin-Hanamaki again.

Staff was super nice at this property. Service was top of the line. They even drove us up and down the road even though we could've walked.
Food was delicious, elaborate, and made with superb craftsmanship. Room was so comfortable probably one of the most comfortable ryokans we have stayed at. Private open air bath was perfect with snowing outside!

great experience

the overall decoration was modern and peaceful. every room got their own spring bath on the balcony with stunning river and mountain view. the remarkable thing was superb dinner and service minded staffs
