A hidden gem engulfed in nature

The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Lisa speaks fluent English and shows extremely good hospitality. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast/dinner and loved the convenient location close to major attractions. The outdoor onsen is whole new experience compare to indoor onsen and a must try at this hotel. There is wild animal like deer & fox roaming at the tranquil surrounding as well.

I hope you do your best!

The bath rules, such as whether or not to wear bathing suits and the times when men and women are allowed to stay, are quite complicated and require careful explanation, but as some people have pointed out in the past, the receptionist has communication problems, speaks quickly, does not look people in the eye, and speaks in a rapid-fire manner, so it is difficult to understand.
I even called out to the elderly couple who were in front of me, when I saw them leave, lamenting that they did not understand the explanation at all.
The building is old, which could be interpreted as part of the charm, but there is a strong strange smell in the hallway on the second floor. Also, all the toilets in the hallways on the first and second floors are broken and out of service. Is this related to the strange smell?
There are young foreigners working in the cafeteria, but they are students who have just come from Vietnam, and although they seem sorry and sorry, they do not understand even the most basic Japanese. There is a Japanese woman working in the cafeteria, but she does not help them.
I was also surprised that there was no explanation at all about the food. (Normal lodgings explain things to you in a tedious manner.) I did not even know what I ate.
On the other hand, in stark contrast to the inn, there is a neat and tidy residence of the owner next door, lined with luxury cars such as Teslas. I think they would be better off using some of that money to improve facilities and payroll.
There seems to be little hospitality in the management. As a result, such people gather as employees, and it seems they are unable to train them.
It's a shame as the hot water is good.
Even if the hot water can't be fixed, the management can. It's a shame, so I hope they can change their attitude and get things back on track.

This is a lodging house in Meto Onsen. It is a member of the Japan Society of Secret Hot Springs. We stayed here for a day trip. It is open from 11:00, and the mixed outdoor bath, Kyoishi no Yu, is for men only from 11:00 to 12:00. There are also indoor and outdoor baths. It is a simple alkaline spring, but it is a former sulfur spring. Kyoishi no Yu is located next to the river, so you can feel one with nature. The bathing fee is 700 yen.

Secluded Natural Hot Spring Spa Hotel

Meto Onsen is located a few kilometres off the main highway at the end of a gravel road. We were a bit concerned as we found ourselves driving deeper into a forest not knowing what to expect around every turn. We were amazed at the end of the road across a small bridge when the hotel came into view.
Meto Onsen is a highly recommended secluded retreat for those wanting to experience a natural outdoor hot spring bath along with traditional Hokkaido food that included wild vegetables collected from the surrounding forest. The hotel is old and aged but in a way this adds to the unique nature feel to the hotel.
Food was outstanding and so was the outdoor hot spring experience. Don't expect internet access and note that your cell phone will not have a connection in this mountain retreat. If that is what you are looking for than I highly recommend a weekend of relaxation. Get away from regular city life!

เนื่องจากเป็นออนเซ็นที่มีแหล่งน้ำเก่าแก่กว่า 100 ปี ทำเลจึงค่อนข่างไกลจากชุมชน ทสำหรับงเข้าเป็นถนนลูกรังระยะยาวพอควร ห้องที่ได้อยู่ชั้นล่างค่อนข้างเก่า และมีกลิ่นอับพอควร อาหารเช้าและเย็นดีมาก โดยเฉพาะอาหารเย็นปริมาณเยอะมากและอร่อย อาคารห้องอาหารเป็นตึกใหม่ แยกเป็นห้องเดี่ยวๆและเสริฟให้นั่งรับประทานที่ห้องเดี่ยวๆนั้น
