Pre-cruise stay in Rome

My wife and I along with another couple recently stayed in Rome for several nights prior to a cruise vacation. The hotel was very nice and clean. The included breakfast was outstanding and the best we have ever enjoyed in a hotel stay. The location is a bit out of the way and there were not many restaurant options. We were a bit early when we arrived and were charged an excessive fee (50 Euro) for early check in. We were disappointed at being charged this fee and that negated the other positive aspects of our stay.

Rude Staff

Rude staff, small rooms, hotel stinks, closest Cafes are 15-30 min walks.
Gets recommended by the cruise line, pick another hotel

Mid-level hotel, decent food

The dinner snack session and the breakfast were absolutely great. The staff were where the major problems were apparent. Check-in staff were passable, but gave little to no direction for baggage storage prior to check in, then, once it was found, my party was berated for accessing it without permission. Wait staff at breakfast also took no time to clean the area, which made us lose our breakfasts and had to get our food a second time.
