Domus castrense

I recommend the structure: very good location, very kind staff, small but spotless rooms, good breakfast. Excellent value for money.

The services in this guest house are really below average. There is no front desk staff after 5pm on Sundays and after 7pm during the week. Security is lacking. The elevator was not available and I had to drag my bags up to the 5th floor. THe code to enter the building is very clearly (TOO clearly) marked on the entry security pad. I found the front door to the building and to each floor wide open and unattended one evening when I returned at 6:30. The a/c malfunctioned one night when the outside temps were over 30--the room was even hotter. Because there is no night staff, I had no one to contact after midnight when the a/c broke. The breakfast is meager and most pastries are pre-packaged in plastic. Only the coffee was freshly made. On the plus side the room was clean and modern and the bed was comfortable. The neighborhood was convenient to the train station and the university. I transferred to a real hotel nearby and had a much more positive experience for only a few more euros per night.

Minimal service

Disappointing stay, overall--especially for the price. The front desk has limited hours. I arrived on Sunday at 5:30pm and the front desk had left. My key (and someone else's) were left out. The elevator wasn't working so I had to drag my suitcase up the stairs to the 5th floor. It turns out that if the elevator door is left ajar, it can't be called from any other floor. Security isn't great. There's a keypad at the front door but the numbers to push are painted with white paint so someone could pretty quickly figure out the 4-digit code. The second night I arrived back to the hotel at 6:30 and found the front door wide open and the doors to every single floor wide open as well. There was no one at the front desk. According to the manager, the front desk is staffed until 7pm but that's still pretty early by Rome standards. This did not make me feel secure. The breakfast is meager. Coffees are made to order but the rest of the offerings are prepackaged pastries and yogurts. The room was clean if simply furnished, but my
a/c stopped working on the second night I was there and the room temperature was over 30 degrees (90F) for the entire night. Without a staffed front desk, I had no option but to swelter--the air temps outside were cooler than the room! That was enough for me. I found a similarly priced, full-service hotel a few blocks away and left early.

Excellent place to stay

Very clean hotel ,staff very friendly, very clean bathroom, excellent tv channels selection,staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent location closed to all public transportation , coffee shops and restaurants. Highly recommended as family or solo traveler.

Strategic hotel for short stays

LOCHESCION. A few steps from Castro Pretorio stop and easily reachable on foot from Termini, the hotel is located in an old building finely renovated. After taking a vintage elevator, you enter the rooms. Small but well finished, the latter are neat and well furnished. The bathroom is also well made: present all the sanitary, spacious shower, sink a little 'small. Vote: NOVE.
BREAKFAST. Great disappointment of the stay, mainly because most of the products are packaged (eg rusks, jams, yogurt). The quality of the croissants can also be improved. I recommend more attention to this point because it is really a shame. Vote: FIVE.
SERVICE. Extremely friendly staff, available for every need and support both before and during your stay. Vote: GET OUT.
BILL. One night costs around €190 for a double, breakfast included. Semo in Rome and if he does. Vote: EIGHT.
