Lovely quiet place to stay in a central location. Great value.
The room was stylish, clean and practical. Location was great - very central near the Cathedral but quiet. The alley has some steps, and an array of plant pots, meaning there are no cars and very few scooters. Moreover, despite some building work nearby the shutters and windows kept out noise very effectively, with air con working well and not too noisily. Blackout curtains and a comfortable bed also made a difference to us getting a good sleep.
Germana was very helpful, arranging a transfer from the airport, and taxi to the central station, and helped with our bags from the street on arrival and up the stairs – as well as giving good suggestions for eating etc.
Large bottled water was provided, which was appreciated. The safe and fridge worked fine.
For traditional Sicilian breakfast, there are a couple of cafes the other side of the Cathedral serving delicious pastries, with a great view from the pavement tables.
One minor suggestion is that the two fresh shower gel bottles could be provided each day – even if existing bottles are only part finished as they were quite small. Another is that the sensor for the stairway lights could be given a bit longer to stay on – it often went dark for us temporarily.
Note that while its location was excellent for exploring the main sites on foot around the beautiful pedestrianised historic area, the nearest train station and airport bus stops are quite a walk with large bags and the busiest bus routes are elsewhere in the centre. But for what we paid we didn’t worry about paying a little more for the transfers and taxi, which worked well with German liaising closely. We did use the 10 euro hop off and on mini train to get to the other side of the centre, and back later, which was well worth it to rest the feet and legs. It has a stop by the Norman Palace close to Porta Nuova, as does the more traditional hop off hop on bus. (There is a free bus that circles the historic area, but as many have commented online it can’t be relied on – we waited for over 30 minutes from the harbour area and neither of the two scheduled buses appeared.)

Clean, Comfortable Accommodation in the Heart of Palermo, but Breakfast Falls Short
First and most importantly, our rooms were clean, comfortable and well-maintained. All accommodations are above ground level, and require carrying luggage up at least one flight of stairs. It is not uncommon in Europe not to have elevator access, but for those with any physical limitations, the stairs are worth noting.
Location, while difficult to find, is on a quiet side street in the heart of Palermo. We booked it primarily based on location, and were not disappointed. It is within easy walking distance to all of the key sights and markets, and parking is available in a free lot nearby or an underground paid parking garage a few blocks away. We used the paid parking garage for our rental car, as we did not need to use it other than for out-of-town touring. We had no difficulty finding good restaurants nearby.
While the casa is promoted as a B&B, it would be a stretch to describe the "free breakfast" as a meal. It is a self-service kitchen with jars of biscuits and an espresso machine made available. We ended out doing our own shopping for supplies and storing them in the mini-fridge in our room or in the one located in the first-floor breakfast/common area.
Several reviewers were very complimentary about the owner, Germana. Unfortunately, we did not meet her, and the only contact available with her was through "What's App". She was very responsive when we did reach out, but this would not be convenient for anyone without a Smart Phone. The housekeeper appears to live nearby and is often visible onsite, but speaks very limited English.
The reasons we booked this accommodation - price, location and access to secure parking - were valid and did not disappoint. However, due to limited contact with the owner/host and advertising of "free breakfast" falling below expectations, I've ranked Casa Bursari as less than optimal. While I feel it falls short of its "5/5" rating, it remains a good base for the seasoned traveler who wants to be in the heart of Palermo and explore on foot.
