Authentic! Basic! Great Location! Great Value!
When I booked this, I was looking for something with a good price, location and it was our first visit to Bergamo. We were staying two nights, then continuing to Milan, Verona, Bologna and returning to Bergamo before flying home.
We paid 74 euros for 2 nights, double room with a shared bathroom. The airport is approximately 6km away. Andre the host will pick you up for 10 euros.
Unfortunately, Ryan Air changed our flights so we would miss the first night, I contacted Andre and said we would be arriving early the next morning. He offered to pick us up for free!
He picked us up, no problem, we just waited at the bus stop where he said and he was there two minutes later. He drove us via the town to show us the train station, way up to old town etc, chattering away in good English.
We arrived at the building and it's very impressive! A beautiful authentic Italian villa with a courtyard.
We were on the fourth floor (no lift), just big old staircase.
We went through a door and there are long corridors with rooms off them. Our room was huge, basic with a tiled floor, four poster bed with nets, table, chair and that was it really. Clean and cool. We had a shared bathroom which was just outside the door, so that was easy. Again, nice size with everything you could need.
Our room had a large window and overlooked the yard at the back which was a restaurant outside eating area with fairy lights , tables, chairs and a buzzing little atmosphere.
There is a communal kitchen with utensils, basics, etc I loved it!
When we walked out into another courtyard, we just fell in love with it.
It's located a 5 minute walk from the funicular which for a couple of euros takes you on a 2.5 minute ride up to the old city. (It runs until around 1am).
When we got to the top, we were totally overwhelmed at how beautiful this old medieval town was.
We wandered around for a couple of hours, had some drinks and a meal. We then returned back to the apartment.
We sat with the window open, drank wine and watched them all in the garden at the restaurant, it was magical.
The next morning, there was a family making breakfast, so we chatted and I was washing up whilst they were milling around. It was lovely.
We left around 11am to catch our train to Milan. The train station was a 15 minute walk down a lovely shopping area.
So, an amazing authentic stay. Yes, its' basic and yes the facilities are shared, but it's not a hostel. It was just a great experience and for the price and location, you couldn't get better.
After travelling for a further 7 days and then returning to Bergamo for our last night, I'm gutted we didn't book this! I had already booked another hotel and it wasn't the same. Bergamo has to be on everybody's list of places to visit and we are only staying here again when we return!

Awful and really cold place
This whole place is a not funny joke. The main issue is that they don’t turn on the heating. Owner said that there was some kind of damage just today. But it was freezing as hell. The temperature in a room was about 11 celcius, in the corridor 15-16. I was sleeping wearing jeans pants and thick śweater because it was so cold. But you can say if the heating was off for a long time or one day. You can feel humidity in the air in this place. I woke up with losing voice and with gigantic headache. Owner came at night and turned on the heating, in a „magical way” the damage was fixed. He said that only I have problems with the temperature and no one ever suggested that. Then I said to him that opinions on the internet which I readed few minutes ago says something else. Next morning I talked with other people who also had problems with cold room and they were starting to be sick.
They didnt also turned on the heating in bathrooms and corridor.
Also, place said that you have coffee set in your room and a water boiler, but guess what - we didn’t saw it.
Hair dryers are not in a good shape. Only one for the whole place works, but in your room.
Bathroom is really cold also, a stream of water in a shower is very weak.
Also we had wholes in our door, so that you can see what is inside. Mirror was dirty. Puf chair had dirt stains. Disgusting. We were using Booking and they didnt put pictures of our room in the offer.
+ instructions how to get there could have been a lot easier.
After all we wanted our money back. But after an argument owner said that he will not return our money. We left this place after 1 night but we bought 2 of them. In the morning he suggested to move us to another room after an hour. Probably there would be a same story.

Pessima esperienza esperienza
Posto orrendo, sporchissimo e puzzolente. Il posto sembra abbandonato, nemmeno delle luci, avevano messo delle luci di Natale, per illuminare il corridoio . coperte sporche e spagliate . Il bagno non igienico per niente, lamette buttate cosí, doccia sporca e rotta, con un getto di acqua debolissimo , spazzolone del wc sporco di cacca . La cucina era sporchissima , le padelle tutte rovinate e incrostate di cibo , chissà di quanti anni fá, bicchieri sporchi buttati così. Nel frigorifero c’erano fragole marcie , cipolle rovinate e perfino del cocomero , per non parlare delle camere da letto : senza armadi , lampade rivestite con dei sacchetti del pane (pericolosissimo ) . Odore pesante di biancheria sporca e materassi non igenizzati , pavimento in tutta la struttura disconnesso . Condizioni igienico sanitari pietose , polvere ovunque. Non abbiamo mai visto nessuno che facesse delle pulizie!!! . L’unica cosa positiva É la posizione centrale. NON LO CONSIGLIO A NESSUNO.

Холодно, неуютно, не комфортно(((
Скорее хостел для неприхотливых студентов, или же для ночевки на 1 ночь. Проводить здесь 3 и более суток не рекомендую. Возможно это старинное здание (Палата Лордов) имеет историческую ценность, но для проживания оно не пригодно. Каменные холодные стены покрашенные краской, такие же полы, местами пошарпаные и высоченные потолки, плюс добавьте к этому холод от стен и сырость (т.к. здание старое), всё это никак не создаёт комфорт для сна и проживания. Некоторые комнаты (как наша) не имеют окна, вернее оно выходит в общий коридор, а не на улицу. Вариант: или сидеть без дневного света или на всеобщем обозрении. Больше похоже на заброшенную больницу, чем на Палату Лордов. Звукоизоляция нулевая. Сам Андре милый парень, готовый помочь, подсказать. Но я бы это жилье посоветовала людям, любящим экстрим и уставшим от теплых комфортных отелей..
