Thoroughly enjoyed Casale Gelati, thanks to a perfect host!
Casale Gelati is a great location for exploring the southwest coast of Sicily. The area abounds in pittoresk towns and villages, fascinating archeological parks, and, of course, superb beaches. Our host Enrico spoke perfect English, was very knowledgeable about the area, and gave us many tips for wonderful day trips (to Agrigento, Trapani, etc.). Thanks to him, we were given a guided tour in English of the medieval Cathedral of Caltabellotta, a mountain town just north of Sciacca. Enrico is by far the most attentive and generous host I have come across on a decade worth of Italian holidays. Grazie mille, Enrico!

Fantastic Experience
Amazing place perfect for couples as a nice quiet getaway. The host is very welcoming and knowledgeable on the area. Great swimming pool and outside area with breathtaking views for miles. People have complained about the roads but take it easy and you will be absolutely fine. Excellent local supermarket and restaurants and very cheap as well.

Experience to be redone!
And an oasis of peace nestled in the hills of Sciacca, a few minutes from the center, perfect to get away from the daily routine... not to mention the courtesy of Mr. Henry, which makes everything even better... we will definitely return, but this time we will definitely stay longer

Unbelievably relaxing mountain hideaway
Casale Gelati was not that easy to find, but we got part way there and called our host Enrico lo Bianco who came and found us in minutes to shepherd us in to what is an unbelievably beautiful, quiet hidden gem of a house. Casale Gelati is off the beaten track in that it is I the hills behind Sciacca at the end of a narrow road that takes you through olive and almond groves. The view from the house is nothing short of breath taking and Enrico himself is a hidden gem. A font of all knowledge Sicilian and many other matters.
The two bedroom apartment was clean, extremely comfortable and well equipped, although in that respect, I probably need to come clean and say that our host, Enrico, is a superb chef and he prepared a wonderful meal for us each evening using local produce and his deep and abiding knowledge of traditional Sicilian dishes which were nothing short of stunning. Needless to say that we thoroughly enjoyed them with the selection of wine provided and we did not trouble the gas hob in our apartment all week other than to boil water for coffee and tea! He also catered for my wife, a vegetarian.
Whilst the large bathroom and sitting area were appreciated, it was the terrace and the views it offered that captivated us.
There are many local restaurants in Sciacca, about 15 minutes away and one even closer (5 minutes), but it seemed utterly pointless to use them in view of the quality of Enrico’s culinary talents, conversation and knowledge.

Best of both worlds
The Casale was down a quiet lane in beautiful countryside. The old house sits high above the valley so wonderful views. The one bed apartment we stayed in was well equipped and comfortable. Although you are in the country it is only about 15 minutes drive to the costal town of Sciacca. There is a pleasant restaurant only 4 minutes drive away on route for Sciacca . The owner of Casale Galati was wonderful and keen to make your stay as pleasant as possible . Do remember to get directions from him before arriving as it's difficult to find otherwise.
