Alfred’s Apartments turned out to be a brilliant last-minute find after I accidentally made a complete mess of my previous booking. The location was absolutely terrific — right in the heart of Reykjavík and ideal for exploring the city. The apartment was spotlessly clean, the bed was wonderfully comfortable, and having a small kitchen was an absolute lifesaver. Given Reykjavík prices, where even a bowl of soup can set you back nearly $20, being able to prepare the occasional meal made a real difference.
Everything is self-service for check-in, but the owner/manager was incredibly helpful and made sure I got in safely despite my rather last-minute circumstances. For Reykjavík, this felt like exceptionally good value.

Bright and clean studio. Quiet at night. Street parking (less expensive than garage). We stayed in the room with a balcony at the top. Staircase is steep when carrying luggage up, just an FYI. Beds were comfortable and we didn’t need heat as the room was naturally warm. Small kitchenette was well stocked. Location is close to shops and restaurants. Would recommend.

Location is perfect, cute recognizable house, and it was so nice having a clean comfy warm place to relax in between adventures. We got upgraded to the balcony studio unit and the view was great. Small but perfect for 2 people. Kitchen had everything we needed. The only things that weren't perfect were:
-the dish brush had hair all up in it, luckily there were some clean sponges but that brush was gross
-we never found the shared laundry room that was advertised, but we ended up not having time to do laundry anyway so we never asked
Besides that we loved it. Never heard any of the other guests. Met a staff member on the way out and she was lovely. Thank you for making our stay possible!

This is a clean, well appointed studio with a very friendly and responsive staff. Location is excellent.

Communication with them is fine. No shampoo, no conditioner though. The hand soap was placed in the shower. I think it makes sense to include both hair products as amenities if you also have hand and body(?) soap.
The shower curtains smell like pee, and it’s unbearable (it spreads across the entire apartment). Long strands of hair were also left on the towels placed on the bed. Fridge also has a strange sour smell to it.
