Hidden gem of a hotel

This was our first time to stay at Fernhill Lodge...but it won't be our last! From the minute we arrived, we were impressed with this hidden gem, and those impressions lasted throughout our entire stay.
We were greeted at reception by the delightful Isadora (I hope I spelled that right). She had gone to extra lengths to take care of some requests (dietary requirements) that we made before we arrived. Apart from Isadora, every single staff member we encountered during our stay -- without exception -- was warm, helpful, and eager to please.
The hotel itself is SPOTLESS; everything is fresh and appealing, and the bedroom was not just clean but exceptionally comfortable. For the price we paid, Fernhill Lodge represents outstanding value, compared to some of the local "competition".
At breakfast, we met Alan, the owner of Fernhill Lodge, and like his staff, he was genuinely interested in how our stay had been and if there was anything else we needed. He's an absolute gent.
The location is also excellent. The hotel is in a nice quiet area but very close to the centre of Carrigaline and only about 10-15 minutes from Mahon Point in Cork City. The grounds of the hotel used to be a golf course, so there's plenty of greenery all around. From speaking to Alan, I know he has even more plans on improving Fernhill further.
Finally, the continental breakfast was very nice; the coffee was delicious, and there was even freshly-baked banana bread on offer, along with scones, cereal, toast, boiled eggs, juices...you won't walk away hungry.
In short, if you're looking for a spot close to (but not too close to) Cork City, and you don't want to pay high chain hotel prices, give Alan and his gang at Fernhill Lodge a shout. You'll be glad you did.

Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff

Was working in Crosshaven so stayed here - the staff were just lovely at every interaction! Reception, dining area - lovely warm, welcoming atmosphere. Way more attentive that your average hotel and a lot more friendly. Rooms are basic, but clean and very comfy.

Second time staying there will not be a third time smellly damp rooms wardrobe door fell off and hit me in the forehead went out for dinner served me raw prawn tempura pointed it out got tutted at they took the food away and brought it back cremated but still raw on the inside must have been blast frozen to start with can’t afford a fridge for their soft drinks all warm and ice is rationed avoid at all costs you have Been warned

Perfect for work

Personally I was doing some construction work in ringaskiddy I live down In Barry and so needed somewhere to stay and this place was perfect, Went with the wife and it was great. Very well placed for me working in ringaskiddy. Free WiFi and a TV In the room. Comfortable room, albeit a little dirty and the staff generally polite other than a few lapses.

Bad Hygiene Practices

Terribly Poor Hygiene, I have stayed here multiple times and every time the hygiene standards are lacking…dirty toilets, dirty floors, smelly rooms, the list goes on…Bins Not Emptied On Check in, Condom Wrappers Found On Multiple Occasions, Drafty Windows, Dirty Bathroom Floors, Handles And Taps. I Did Not Dare Remove My Flip Flops To Walk On The Floor. Poor Internet Connection, Terrible Breakfast But Amazing If You Like Boiled Eggs and Toast Everyday! Always Noisy!
