ARRIVED A GUEST LEFT A FRIEND, THE FAIRYTALE, THAT TICKED ALL THE BOXES FOR ME A STAY THAT I WISHED NEVER HAD TO END!
I recently visited Cullintra House. I never checked any reviews before making my booking, and I would like to just say from the start, that I am so glad I didn’t for many a reason. I booked in for just one night. I arrived earlier than the normal check-in time, which was no Problem, since I arranged that in advance, with Patricia., our Host, Chief, Artist and now a dear, dear Friend. My stay was both delightful, and a memorable one. Which I hand on heart wished it would, never, ever, end. My stay of just one night was somewhat, quickly extended from a one night, to, four magical nights, and I genuinely never wanted my stay to end.
I have found myself in the most beautiful, and peaceful - hidden treasure that Ireland has to offer.
I am Irish, I have been around pretty much everywhere that our dear Island has to offer. Visited many a hotel, and B&B, and I have myself, for the last year worked in a Beautiful B&B - so I know only too well, the hard work,
and indeed, the effort that goes into taking care of the House, and indeed., to each, and every Guest and their needs. I appreciated Patricia's help, as I am currently relocating to the area. She kindly gave me the low down on all the places of interest. We chatted forever! Well, not really, but she kindly gave me her time, and told me of the walks that Cullintra House has waiting for us. Not one, but indeed, 2 beautiful trails await your arrival! Picnic benches, beautiful scenery of the woods, and indeed the Mountains - look so close, it’s like a piece of heaven at your fingertips.
I stayed in the “Gallery Room” - it was incredibly spacious, Dining room table, chairs, Candles, Open fire, Complete with an extremely generous supply of fire logs!
There was a T.V., there was an ensuite, there was not one but 2 couches in the room, and of course as previous visitors will tell you, an enchanting Spiral stairway that led to a cute bedroom. Yeah, it’s like your very own little apartment of hidden treasures and my Boyfriend., would have so loved it all - especially, the log fire and the scenery, but sadly he was unable to join me, as he passed away last year. I guess that is why I so appreciated - Cullintra House - all the more, for the peace, after the year that I had, and indeed, getting away from Living in the City, and the burnout that came with it, over the last number of months.
I have only just now read some of the reviews, and as I said I have worked in a Guesthouse, it is hard to strike the balance. A late Breakfast would have been wholehearted welcome from my Boyfriend, up to Midday - what a dream!!! Ensures a goodnight sleep, and total relaxation! If you want an earlier than - 11 am Breakfast,
I am sure, if you say this to Patricia in advance, she will do her very best to accommodate you, but it's best to let her good self - know Asap.
Patricia’s Breakfast was both Delicious & Plentiful. Homemade, Brown bread, baked for hours, to perfection - accompanied by some of the finest Homemade Jams you could ever possibly find, made with just as much Love and care. And all the time you are surrounded by the Splendour of a Charming Dining room, complete with Chairs form Ashbourne Castle - no Less!!! So, you really are getting treated like Royalty for sure!!!
Patricia, will I am sure, try and accommodate you, you just have to ask, in advance that is all. You will never know unless you ask. As for any other slight negativity,
well... it’s cute, and has an abundance of charm nestled in the most breath-taking mountains, really what is not to like about that, with a warm welcome from Patricia,
a delightful character, who engages with you, and makes you feel like a member of the Family.

A true farmhouse experience
Cullintra House is full of old country charm and is a fantastic place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The furnishings are original and antique, giving the whole property a truly unique character. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with several lovely walks and cycling trails starting right from the doorstep.
The property does show its age and may not suit guests expecting the standard facilities of more modern guesthouses. However, Patricia’s exceptional hospitality made our stay unforgettable.

Quirky, original Farm Manor experience
A great cosy experience of an old quirky farm manor with a friendly and interesting host. Probably the most authentic old farm experience in the southeast.
What you get: an old house with a lot of character and very good breakfast. Countryside, pretty farm grounds, nature around for hiking. Wonderful views included.
What you don't get: a flawles hotel experience with a standard room and luxury swimming pool.

Country B&B
Very interesting property and hostess. Charming setting and beautifully furnished. We enjoyed our walk and the conservatory. Very quiet. Definitely a country setting. The art gallery and ancient cairn was a definite plus. Would stay again.

Great stay with friends
Myself and 13 friends had an amazing long weekend in Cullintra House. The farmhouse is full of character with Patricia’s paintings adorning all the walls. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfy. Patricia’s laid back attitude made for a relaxing few days. It was lovely to be able to sit in the conservatory as a group of an evening playing music and enjoying a drink. The house is very clean but don't expect the conservatory to be super clean as it has a log burner functioning all the time and it is an outdoor space. The setting of the farmhouse is amazing with lovely walks around the area. Patricia cooks a lovely breakfast but don’t expect it first thing in the morning. If you want an escape from the stresses of life then Patricia and Cullintra is the place for you. You will leave with some good memories after a truly unique experience.
