One of our best moments in Bali yet extremely rich in strong emotions

Magical place to live the life of a Balinese family and discover its true culture
Adorable staff who are very attentive to making you experience timeless moments
Very highly recommended for those who want an experience off the beaten track in a superb region! Bali differently!!!

Great cooking class + local agriculture

We had 2 nights together with the team and Eddie as our personal guide outside the accommodation. To summarize it: we know it was just a quick look behind the curtain, but for us really amazing and we perceived it as very personal. We enjoyed the cooking class with the great variety of recipes and info about the spices and other ingredients. With at least the same intensity we experienced the trip to local market and the agricultural activities/lessons like coconut oil production, rice plantation and all the tasting of local fresh fruits.

Experience Bali the authentic way

If you havn't visited Tabanan in Bali, then may be you havent seen the real Bali. Staying with a local family in a traditional Balinese home really elevates your travel experience. Rumah Desa is beautiful. Equipped with modern amenities , yet so rooted in tradition. Book a full program ( 2 night stay) with them - and this includes - All meals , a cooking class , a rice farming experience, a trip to the nearest hot spring pool, village cycling to visit a 500 year old tree. And if you are interested they will also teach you to make sacred offerings ( canung sari), Boreh ( balinese tiger balm), Jamu ( a turmeric health drink) and coconut oil and also take you through their ancient script and calendar . If living with locals and interacting them to learn more about their culture is your kind of traveling , then this is your place. We started missing the smiles and innocence of the people here , as soon as we reached Ubud and Kuta.

Felt like home!

Rumah Desa was a good surprise. After a recommendation from our guide, we decided to try this guesthouse. We have to confess that it surpassed our expectations!
We were received like special guests and we couldn't wish for more.
We had the deluxe room, which seems like your are inside a temple. The room was very nice, despite the location of the toilet and the shower was confusing. the bed was very confortable.
The breakfast was included in the rate, and despite modest, was suficient. We were asked for what we wanted so there is flexibility.
We also had dinner which was a true balinese dinner, very good. The black rice pudding was the highlight.
We were very well received by the staff, and we had also the possibility to flavor some of the programs they have there, like learning how to make coconut oil, see tipical spices, rices and herbs used in balinese cooking, and also learn some basics on balinese writing.
Finally this is a very good value for money hotel, which help the choice.
I would recommend this stay to people that what to have some activities from that area.

Interessanter und besonderer Aufenthalt

Aufenthalt für eine Nacht mit Familie war wirklich interessant und bereichernd. Es empfiehlt sich, die Führungen mitzumachen. Wir hatten das Glück einen sehr netten und kundigen Führer zu haben, der uns Reisanbau, Früchte im Regenwald, kulturelle Riten sehr interessant erklärte. Das von Rumah Desa gekochte tradionell indonesische Essen ist sehr lecker. Die Zimmer sind etwas dunkel (traditionell indonesisches Haus, daher kaum Fenster) aber auch eine Erfahrung!
