The Mayo Resort in North Bali is magnificent
The Mayo Resort was magnificent. The surroundings are peaceful and quiet so if you are looking for the opposite of Canggu, this is it. The rooms are well appointed and spacious, the staff are extremely courteous and helpful in every way. There is a restaurant on site, the Bora Bora, which serves western and Balinese food all day and all night until 10pm. This is a great place to find a bit of what Bali was like 30-40 years ago without the hustle and bustle of south Bali. And the prices are very fair and reasonable for the quality of service.

A most relaxing and enjoyable experience in North Bali at Mayo Resort.
We arrived at Mayo Resort at 10PM, after driving up to North Bali from Canggu. We were greeting by security and taken to a surprisingly lovely villa with a lighted pool, just 5 meters from the ocean. The villa was squeaky clean and we were able to cook some late snacks and enjoy a few drinks outdoors and relax after a long drive. The setting is beautiful, and we awoke to the sunshine and enjoyed a full breakfast at the BORA BORA restaurant.
We went back for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at how excellent the food was. After lunch we dived Into the refreshing pool and sunbathed the afternoon away. In the evening we drove into Lovina, which is a 20 minute drive and enjoyed the annual Lovina Festival.
Getting up at 6am on Sunday morning we were treated to a Dolphin adventure and were excited to see a fleet of dolphins diving in and out of the ocean close to our boat! Amazing experience!
We went back for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at how excellent the food was. After lunch we dived Into the refreshing pool and sunbathed the afternoon away. In the evening we drove into Lovina, which is a 20 minute drive and enjoyed the annual Lovina Festival.

The perfect place to unwind and recharge
Mayo Resort in North Bali is the perfect place to unwind and recharge! It's incredibly peaceful and quiet, exactly what we needed. Our villa was beautiful, with super comfortable beds and great water pressure (a small detail that makes a big difference!). Every evening, we watched the sunset right from our balcony, and every morning we enjoyed a peaceful walk along the beach.
The staff were so kind and helpful throughout our stay, and the food was excellent too. We truly left feeling refreshed and regenerated. Can’t wait to come back!

The remoteness is a plus
As we drove down the long narrow rough road with some abandoned buildings in view, no store or other hotel or houses or anything, we wondered if booking Mayo was a mistake. Then we arrived, saw the place, and moved in it soon became our favorite hotel on Bali. We loved it.
Mayo has only 8 or 10 rooms. The ones on the ground floor are good, but no view. Above them are the green room and yellow room (the color of their doors) which have ocean views from the deck, and look down on the pool. Wonderful! Some of the other rooms have views and some don't. If that is important, inquire. Our rooms were spacious and well furnished. Plenty of counter space for our things.
Bora Bora restaurant is part of the hotel. A variety of choices. Everything we ate was wonderful. Prices were appropriate. No walls block the view of the nearby ocean. The staff is friendly, helpful, efficient. Nice people!
They don't have a spa so they call in people who go to guests' rooms. Inda was wonderful. In three days I had three long massages. A very mellow experience that improved some physical damage at a reasonable price.
Expect a pleasant peaceful stay. At first we didn't like the remoteness because everything was so far away, then we loved the remoteness because everything was so far away.
We want to return.

- We are remote inasmuch as there are no other hotels or restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but we are only 4km from Bali's fifth largest town Seririt which offers shops, a night market, ATM, pharmacies and a clinic, and only 12km from Lovina.
- We are at the tip of a headland that is now enjoying a real estate boom, so the abandoned buildings are actually luxury villas under construction. But none of them are close enough to the resort to cause any disturbance.
- All of our rooms, including those on the ground floor, offer a sea view. Please visit our website to see the photos

Breathtaking North Bali Hideaway
It was one of our best family vacations. Brilliant service, from start to finish. I’ve never been moved to tip the staff anywhere else, as much I have here. Lovely views, paddy fields and sunsets. Access to all the best places in the north. I will definitely come back here!
