After we were in Lembeh in 2016, we decided this year once again for extensive muck diving and stayed for 8 nights at D Lagoon. The first contact with Sabrina was very nice, she replied very quickly and friendly. During our stay we were at the resort in the beginning four, then 2-3 days alone and towards the end of our stay 6 more guests came.
"Em", the manager on site, was very, very friendly and gave us all the info we needed. We were also told that local cuisine is served here, but we can always express food wishes. We did this once and already the next day we had very delicious Sate Ayam with peanut sauce :-). The food always tasted very good and it was beautifully arranged.
We also found the variety suitable for Indonesian food (of course, there is a lot of rice here, but also potatoes, vegetable fritters, tofu, tempeh, pork, chicken...). If there are enough people in the resort, there is a small buffet, otherwise the courses are served at lunch and dinner (lunch salad, main course, cl. Dessert, often fruit; and in the evening soup, main course and dessert). In the afternoon after the dive at about 16:00 there was always a small snack, often something sweet Indonesian like Onde Onde or a cake.
The cocktails were also very good, they cost around 8-10 euros (there are also those that are not on the menu).
The diving was great. We started in the morning at our request at 8:00 for two dives. The Service on the boat was perfect, everything was fixed and washed out, you got water, coffee, tea, cookies, fruit etc. The guys on the boat were very helpful. Since we were only diving in twos or a maximum of fours most of the time, this was really luxury. You generally have a guide for two. The boat is still quite new and very nice and practical. On the deck above there are beanbags and a real toilet is also available.
Nitrox was included, we didn't need equipment, only my husband borrowed a fin strap.
A camera room is also available, but somehow not quite finished yet (like some other things, eg the pool ;-). In the camera room you should clean thoroughly (shelves etc.) and hang some nice pictures on the wall, then everything looks equally different.
The lounge area is very nice and still quite new.
The rooms were renovated, we had nothing to complain about here, except the missing seat cushions on the terrace (on request I received cushions). The lounger could be exchanged for a regular lounge chair. In the bathroom there is shower gel and shampoo that smells fantastic, mosquito plugs, mosquito remedies and in the evening you also bring spirals against mosquitoes by. We thought that helped.
A small building as a "reception/office" is not quite finished yet, as is the pool, which they finished in the summer, but which is still missing something, which is why there was no water inside. Too bad, but on the homepage it has not yet been communicated that there is a pool, so you must not be angry.
Of course, it's also a pity that you can't swim in the lagoon (sometimes cooling off from diving would have been good), but for the jellyfish, the hotel can't do anything...
While diving we saw almost everything that the Lembeh Strait gives us: wonderpus and mimic octopus, coconut octopus, longarmed octopus, numerous sepias undersch. Size, including bobtail squids and flamboyant cuttlefish, many different shrimps (including Tiger shrimps, tozeuma shrimps), slugs like shaun the sheep, a lot of angler fish of different sizes, also the hairy frogfish, egg snails, different mantis shrimps, the beautiful snowflake cardinal bass andundund.
Our guide Aris was a bit reserved, but very good at spotting animals with his decades of experience. According to other guests, the other guide apparently often met the flora and fauna with his fins. It should be pointed out to the guides.
If the pool is full and if some little things are made, we would come back:
- different. Compensate step heights at the restaurant/bar, even for the stones that have been laid in the grass, possibly. Fill dirt and resow grass (danger of tripping/buckling)
- Prepare pool, put sun loungers and umbrellas to the pool
- Set up camera room as mentioned above
- Mosquito net in the room was a bit too small, so it was not completely closed all around
- possibly set up a happy hour before dinner or afterwards (cocktails slightly cheaper, this would perhaps "attract" a few guests)
- ... a few small things and suggestions that we have shared with Em and that were gladly accepted.
The whole staff was very, very friendly! We felt very comfortable there despite the necessary improvements.
On the previous review, we can only say that the hotel is of course not for snorkelers, as in our opinion almost all resorts in Lembeh. And the hotel is also called "Dive Resort". Apart from diving you can do next to nothing here (but a few excursions are offered!). Those who come to Lembeh are usually divers and if you get informed you know what to expect.
We noticed about the missing snorkel guide and it turned out to be a misunderstanding or the manager said he didn't know that a snorkel guide was wanted.
For people who like diving and a lot, like good Indonesian food and who don't mind if you can't swim in the sea, I can really recommend the small resort when the pool is ready.

Great resort and beautiful diving!
In March 2026 we stayed ten nights at D’Lagoon. Our first acquaintance with the owners, Rinaldi and Natasha, took place during the Duikvaker fair in Houten in January 2025. Their enthusiasm about the resort, the personal service, the small scale setup and diving with one guide / spotter per two divers appealed to us immediately. After the fair we contacted and after some pleasant exchanges we made our reservation.
Upon arrival at Manado airport, a driver from the resort was waiting for us, who took us to the port of Bitung in about 45 minutes. From there we were sailed to D’Lagoon in about 15 minutes with one of the boats from the resort.
The welcome was particularly warm. During the welcome drink we received extensive information about the resort and diving. The resort has five bungalows overlooking the lagoon and two overlooking the garden. We stayed in a spacious and attractively furnished Deluxe Lagoon View bungalow, equipped with comfortable beds (single beds are possible), a nice bathroom, a water unit with hot and cold water and a quiet, well-functioning air conditioning. In the bathroom there were shower gel and shampoo (with a wonderful smell), and mosquito repellent and evening mosquito coils were provided. During our stay we hardly suffered from mosquitoes. The resort has been completely renovated in recent years and looks beautiful.
The restaurant is spacious and offers a magnificent view over the lagoon. Because of the small scale, everything is a short walk away. Local Indonesian cuisine is served, but special requests can always be communicated. Around 4pm a small snack was served, often something sweet like onde-onde or cake. The restaurant also has a bar serving cocktails, among other things.
We had been to Lembeh before (albeit in a different resort) and this time the diving was fantastic again. Usually we made two dives in the morning, sometimes supplemented by an afternoon dive, a mandarin dive or a night dive. Kia was our regular dive guide and we were very satisfied with that. He supported us both above and below water and proved to be an excellent spotter.
There is a special camera room, but there is also enough space in the bungalow to safely store photographic equipment. The staff was very friendly and helpful, both on the resort and on the boats. On board we got water, coffee, chocolate, cookies and fruit, and after each dive there were warm face wipes waiting. D’Lagoon has two fairly new, spacious and practically furnished boats, equipped with a toilet and beanbags to relax between dives. Nitrox is included and diving equipment is available for hire if required.
As lovers of muck/macro diving we came here completely to our liking. For us as underwater photographers and videographers, every dive was a real party. We have seen a lot and thanks to the private guidance we could take all the time to reflect on special finds. The Lembeh Strait really has a lot to offer.
We were also happy that the pool was now ready; after returning from diving we liked to take a refreshing dip there.
We look back on a wonderfully relaxing stay with beautiful dives, tasty Indonesian food, excellent service and a team of very friendly and helpful staff and owners. This resort is definitely on the list for us to visit again.

Ageing / Nix for snorkelers
At first glance it is a dream resort. We stayed at this resort for a week or six. Great for divers, not for snorkelers. In the bay you could not snorkel or swim because of the jellyfish. I booked a guide to snorkel so I could go out with them. Well, what can I say? The boat departed without a snorkel guide. On request they said I could snorkel around the boat. So they had to go back the 100m so I could get off the ship. Snorkeling around the boat I didn't find sparkling. Unfortunately, the swimming pool was broken from day one and nothing happened there either. So I spent a week by the sea more or less in the room. You couldn't sit on the porch because of frills, without Autan you couldn't do anything. Was also available in every room, as was an electric mosquito killer.
Breakfast was ordered in the evening and left little to be desired.
The food was good, but unfortunately little varied.
Unfortunately, there was a rat running around in the ramparts at noon and evening.
We called her Ben.
The entire team of the facility were super friendly and helpful except for the last man/woman.
Over time, however, it became apparent that the bungalows were getting old. Unfortunately, there was none that could have been locked.
Our conclusion: For the divers, diving was great, for snorkelers you should make a wide bow around it.

Everything is right here
Everything is just right here.
We have been there 3 times now, once I was alone and twice we were there as a couple.
The resort is right down on the beach, in a small bay. No other hotel within walking distance.
This time we had a garden bungalow, which is in no way inferior to the seaview bungalows, they are a bit smaller but still nice and big. The seaview is reached via a few steps, the garden bungalows are on the ground floor.
Everything you need: super quiet air conditioning, fan, western-style toilet, shower with hot/cold water via boiler.
Enough power sockets, enough light.
Comfortable double bed with 2 single mattresses.
Towels are changed regularly, there are extra towels on the boat.
Nice and quiet at night.
Few mosquitoes in the room, there is also an insect plug that you can use if necessary.
Food is great.
You can order what you want for breakfast the evening before, e.g. pasta, rice, pancakes or similar.
Bread (toaster), jam, honey, peanut butter, coffee, tea, fruit are always available anyway.
Lunch and dinner are always plentiful, both meat, fish and vegetarian and very tasty.
Everything is always beautifully presented.
The staff are very attentive, from the gardener to the diving guide.
Laundry service is quick and cheap, we had 2 kg for €6, but it can also depend on the type of clothing.
Diving in Lembeh is very special, we love it.
The new diving boat is very luxurious for us, enough space.
The ladder into the boat is great, not as short as you usually have.
After the dives there are often hot towels to wipe your face or head, which is sooo pleasant after a dive.
Guides are great.
We have been to many other resorts in Indonesia, including Lembeh, and here we find that everything is perfect and the price is reasonable.

Well maintained m, clean and super friendly.
The dive resort is very well maintained - the bungalows are new and clean. The dive masters are knowledgeable and always try to point out to macros and help to find your “list”. Food is also delicious- it means made personally not like a buffet style. The owner, Natasha, always ate with her guests We stayed for 4 days and we love it. We recommend to stay here due to its great service and hospitality.
