Clean, comfy, family-orientated.
I liked staying here (was there 3 nights) & found the location very convenient & within enjoyable walking distance to The Mall & The Ridge. Yes, the steps up to the hotel were a nightmare but I handled them ok with a bit of care (I am 61). The young porters were great & I didn't find them pushy at all regarding tips (they deserved their tip carrying my 2 pieces of heavy baggage on those steps!!). I had no problems with wi-fi or TV & the room was clean & comfortable with a decent view of Shimla. A la carte was available but I ate the buffet food; there was a good variety & it was very tasty. I found the staff to be welcoming, helpful & most obliging - there was no bottled water in the room but I was provided with a kettle on request & also a power board that accommodated my power converter so I could recharge my mobile phone. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very busy; there were lots of families there as it was school holidays but generally noise levels were kept at reasonable levels. Most noise came from the convention centre next door, but again that shut down after about 9pm, so no problems. For well-priced, clean, comfortable accommodation you can't go past Hotel Harmony. Not recommended for mobility-impaired though.

I suppose you get what you pay for!
The access to the hotel was dreadful, steep steps with piles of rubbish against the retaining wall. The steps are dangerous and not a good first impression for the hotel. No good for people with mobility problems. The wifi didn't work in our room and it was very slow in the main area. The weather dropped dramatically when we were there (4 degrees at night) and the only place to keep warm was in bed. The lobby was absolutely freezing and unwelcoming. The staff were friendly but breakfast service was slow and questionable??? They were painting some of the rooms while we were there so there was a strong smell of paint because they were painting the walls in gloss paint. The beds were clean. I would give this hotel 1 star, maximum 2 even by Indian standards.

Comfortable Stay....

Worst location and worst hospitality
Dear Friends,
I visited Shimla first week of January and got opportunity to experience hospitality of this hotel, I would like to share my story for your information.
You have to climb 100 meters hilly track to reach the hotel from man road which will give you the best tracking experience with luggage in hill and make your body warm to face the cold.
You have to keep enough patience to complete the all documentation formalities on reception first, you cannot go to your room without that, no matter you have kids and traveling since morning.
If you are lucky like me you will get your room upgraded from deluxe to super-deluxe which will not be better than the standard room from any part of world. You will be welcomed with dirty curtains and pillow cover, specially.
Behavior of the front desk staff is so gentle, you cannot even complain for anything for the sake of your tour success.
Bathroom may have cigarette buds which I experienced and you find the same after room service also.
Cover dinning space is so small, you have to take your food in open area that will give you the special feeling in freezing cold.
No use of handing over the key for room services, you will have to wait for room services even after four hours of your site seen.
The only really good thing with you can find is taste of food. If you are coming Shimla for food than this hotel could be your choice.

Very basic, but acceptable budget accommodation
The hotel is located off of a very narrow, very busy shopping alley, just up from the Bus Stand on Cart Road. Don’t bring too much luggage! Basically a 2 star property, it barely meets the requirements. Rooms are small and very dated, security is almost non existent, but the beds are OK, and there are basic ensuite toilet/shower facilities. The power to the hot water is very intermittent (grab a shower when the water heater light is on!) as is the WiFi, which is painfully slow anyway. No central heating, and no elevator! But there are plenty of cockroaches, especially at night! There is a small dining facility off the main lobby, and the adjacent kitchen does a reasonable job at fair prices. About a 15 minute walk up the Cart Road to the tourist lifts, which will take you up to the main centre, the Mall, and the Ridge. You can also hike up the aforementioned shopping alley, but beware, its crowded, and quite steep! Staff are friendly, but mainly speak Hindi only.
