Peaceful and beautiful
My sister, dad and I stayed at the Petnehazy Aparthotel for our dads 75th birthday and found the whole experience really good. David on reception was so helpful with suggestions for places to go and things to do in the city centre. It is approx 30min drive via taxi to get into Pest where all the tourist attractions are, but using the Uber app meant we could order taxis within minutes and all the drivers were really friendly and made us feel fully safe.
If I can give any advice at all it is to download the uber app to get into the centre and back. A typical journey cost between 7000-8000 HUF so budget for these twice a day.
If hiring a car parking is incredibly difficult in Pest, and the roads are crackers!
Would definitely return to stay here, the rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable, the surrounding area is very pretty and peaceful and the food in restaurant was nice too. Only other thing to note is the outdoor pool isn’t open until mid June so if you’re hoping to sunbathe there are no beds and you’re not allowed in the pool. There is however an indoor pool but we found it too hot to sit in there.

Second time staying at Petneházy. The location is beautiful, the surroundings are fantastic, but the place is extremely run‑down and clearly not maintained. The outdoor pool needs maintenance, for example, the ladder was closed off, many tiles broken, mattresses on the sun loungers are ripped and dirty etc..., and around the indoor pool under the windows there were thick dirt and dead flies. Our lodge was dirty, drains clogged, furniture old and grimy, the room wasn’t properly cleaned, and the toilet was blocked when we arrived. The boiler leaks, the shower door doesn’t close, and the kitchen wasn’t stocked with basic utensils or dishes. The whole cabin needs a full renovation. The staff tried to help by offering us a smaller lodge, but unfortunately it was in the same condition. Sad, because the hotel has great potential.

Cute
A bit dated, but it still maintains its charm, very cute cabins where you can park your car near the apartment. Perfect for a bit of relaxation with the family, Budapest is reachable in 20 minutes by car. A perfect compromise for those looking for relaxation and still wanting to experience the city.

Not good
Arrived as a family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children later at night. Got to our lodge which was in darkness to find it in a discusting state. Dirty towels lying around, every bed, including the sofa bed in the living area was left unmade with dirty sheets and towels. Rubbish lying around and very unclean. We reported to reception to be told there was no other accomodation available. So we were told to wait and it would be sorted. Over 1hr passed, not even the offer of a drink of water or cup of tea, and i was told when i asked for one that the bar was closed! Even though staff were taking bottles of juice ect for themselves!
We eventually got to the accomodation which had the beds made and rubbish taken away. We went straight to bed as was so tired. Woke up in the morning to realise how dirty the place actually was. Toe nails, food, dust every all over living area. Cupboards in kitchen covered in food/spillage. Tried to have a shower and it fell straight off. Had to actually just hold it to shower! Thankfully we had packed towels as if not we would have been sharing the 2 that was left. Sofa in living area side was not attatched so leaned on it and alsmost fell. Went to reception again, was told if housekeeping had time they would clean it. No apology, just an attitude of oh well not my problem, the staff actually didnt care.

Run away!
I had a reservation on booking made in September for June, so more than 9 months before the trip. 3 days before trip, they cancelled unillaterally the booking without any explanation, leaving me without any option. Take care with this property if you don't want to ruin your holiday!!
