Darren’s Stag Do

Absolutely excellent little hostel situated in the heart of Budapest city centre. Easy walking distance to the Ruin Bars which are an absolute must when you visit the city and near to the Danube for cultural visit, especially the “Shoes”, very moving. Very reasonably priced and the reception man called Matias could not do enough for us. Showers were hot, towels and sheets provided and clean. A basic hostel but very friendly and would recommend to anyone planning to visit the City. Good security as well, three doors to negotiate before you get into the reception. We were quite happy to leave valuables in our rooms as we had the keys and we locked up before we left.

Overpriced for what you get

Booked room with shower/toilet. Shower cold 2/3 nights. No top sheet. Tiny pillow. Good internet and lift to first floor. No reception except for fist night. He was nice. I wouldn’t recommend this place

I am sorry about the shower. The heater went wrong. However we could fix it soon (it is hard to get an expert in a few days in Budapest) and we offered a discount.

great hostel

One of the friendliest hostels ever! We were greeted by a really friendly staff member who ran us through everything we needed happily despite how late at night we arrived. Plus a cute room with lovely high ceilings, a big bathroom and amazing location. Would definitely recommend!

Really good budget city centre hostel accommodation

Stayed in a four bed mixed dorm room. Curtains around bed provided total privacy. Fair bit of traffic noise but to be expected from its city centre location. Staff very helpful and friendly. Bathroom facilities more than adequate. Free tea and coffee and a well equipped kitchen. Free WiFi. Good value for money. Would recommend and would definitely stay again when next in Budapest.

Warning. Robbed!

I was robbed by staff. I was the locker only guest in the room and I locked the room and locker with the keys I received. When I returned at night the room and locker where closed but the money was missing and there was nobody else in the room. I checked out next morning after 1 day even I paid 4 nights. They didn't offer any compassion or showed any understanding. Also there were bedbugs in my room, easy to find them. Stay away if you can. There are more cases of robbery in this place and in sister Pals hostel as well. Just Google Pals or Pals mini and robbed.

Thank you for taking your time to share your review with the TripAdvisor community, however, it was very disappointing to read it, as unfortunately this is not what happened and therefore I have to point out some discrepancies in your account of your 1 night stay with us:
No guests, nor staff members, entered or exited the room once the guest had checked in. Nor did the guest raise any issues of bedbugs with us both while he was staying with us, or after departing, and we have had no other complaints of this nature in the room where the gentleman stayed. We also asked an inspector to view the room just to be sure, and he found nothing. The guest also only stayed with us for 1 evening, and we did not refund him the remaining nights as it was a non-refundable pre-paid booking.
The member of staff that was on shift for the entirity of the gentlemans stay is the manager of the property and is an honest and trustworthy member of our team. All other keys for the guest's dorm room were in the lock draw. We have never encountered a staff member stealing from any of the guests (or other staff members as a matter of fact) and security has always been and still is top priority for us. I'm sure this must have been a misunderstanding - for which I'm very sorry, especially because the guest has left before we could have found out what had really happened :(
