Beware Greek bearing gifts
Absolutely shocking owner of these studio’s,who gave us a fake apology and fake smile.
We landed on time and as it was a late flight we were dropped off by transfer coach at 2:30am.
The apartments were in total darkness and locked there was not a soul about,no message on bar door to say where keys to our apartment was the beach road was deserted and all surrounding apartments, of which there are many were all in darkness.
In desperation we phoned the tour operator Tui helpline number and a man named Mark tried his best to contact owner or even local holiday reps in Crete but not one person replied,he is the one person who comes out of this fiasco with any credit,he called us back 3 times but eventually by 4am he suggested we book in another hotel,the hotel Alai offered us a room for the night at 244 euros,we thought Tui would never agree to refund that so all we could do was sit outside the Stefania on a cold mid May night and wait.
We sat outside those apartments for over 4 hours freezing until a maid turned up at 7am opened the bar and found our keys which were locked in the bar and we got room 201 which was basic but ok because by that time we believe hyperthermia would have set in if we had waited much longer.
As you can imagine we never slept well because we were so angry at being left out in the cold by the owner who had no excuse because we emailed him 2 weeks earlier with our expected arrival time of 3 am.
When we went down on Monday 18th the owner was there and said he was sorry,he forgot there was another flight so we basically sat freezing for over 4 hours because he forgot.
Along with his fake apology and fake smile he said we could have free safe deposit box and free aircon which we never used or intended to purchase,a free drink per night at his bar and as we don’t drink that was pointless,in the 2 weeks my partner had 3 coffees I had three soft drinks,he offered to buy a meal for us in a local restaurant which we declined,so basically we got safe deposit box and late check out room for free.
We could not understand how Tui could have an agreement with owner who can be allowed to just forget because after a few days my partner had to have breathing issues checked with local doctor,given antibiotics,issues we believe brought on by stress anxiety and sitting freezing for over 4 hours because the irresponsible owner simply forgot,the doctor cost 100 euros,but basically the first week was ruined.
We only saw the owner about 4 times in 2 weeks and to be honest his apology was as fake as his smile.
We booked the holiday from an advert on the official Tui website,we went our local Tui shop,showed the Tui website offer and the holiday booking was made by sales lady in the shop so in our mind and to all intents and purposes we had booked a Tui package holiday,how wrong could we be.
On that fateful Monday afternoon a Tui rep on the island by the name of Sharon phoned to apologise,but my partner was so angry that not only was the owner to blame but also Tui for advertising a hotel with irresponsible owner.
Sharon the rep said because the owner accepted it was his fault there was no blame on the part of Tui and if we did not accept what the owner offered us we could only get a £70 voucher,my angry partner asked for a explanation and it transpires it may look like a Tui package but apparently our accommodation was booked by something called bedbanks and because of what we paid for the holiday that’s all we could claim.
The rep called Sharon also tried to cause more friction with the owner by telling him we wanted 70 euros in cash from him,this was a vexatious lie and we asked for nothing and all we got was safe box and late check out we had remote for air conditioning but not warm enough in May so never used it.
Beware when booking with Tui because in the Tui travel shop the staff did not disclose to us or make us aware that this holiday was made up of several parts,a flight with Tui and a hotel booked with company we had never heard of with no contact details,all in the guise of a package holiday,we booked in good faith,if it had been disclosed and made transparent it was a made up package we would not of booked,we always book company packages,surely by law the staff should disclose such details before booking.
Even on the ATOL certificate the accommodation is not on there but we trusted Tui,never never again,come back Jet2 all is forgiven.
Let this be a warning always ask Tui if original package or made up,do I chase Tui for compensation or do we let it go because life is too short to chase a £50 voucher off what I believe to be a cheapskate travel company.

Dear Susan.once again We are truly sorry for the whole inconvenience this matter caused to you and your partner. We will be happy and truthful saying this in public to cover a 2 weeks stay in the Stefania studios for free next year (2027) as an honest apology to our mistake.

Fantastic location.
This place is fantastic right dead centre of stalis clean and very friendly and welcoming yanis and his staff are brilliant would definitely recommend this place if you want to have a good holiday you can't go wrong with staying here ......

Lovely clean apartments
Lovely little apartments that are set back off the main strip.
The apartment was clean and well maintained
The pool area was clean and well
Maintained, it would be better with a little music playing as it can be very quiet.
Everyone is friendly and helpful
We paid extra to keep our room on longer due to a later flight home.
It is self catering but the facilities are minimal. However this did not impact us as we ate out.
There is air con in the rooms but if you are in a mezzanine like we were it can get hot up top.
All in all lovely apartments.

Mixed bag
Felt this place was a bit of a mixed bag. The apartment was basic to say the least, the self catering facilities were poor, beds rock hard, holes in the sheets, tatty towels and having to pay 100 euros for air con just to make the apartment a bearable temperature sticks in the throat. We never used the pool as it was impossible to get a lounger. For the first 7 days we were there the same towels were on the loungers and they never moved and rarely saw anyone use the.n. Selfish to say the least. The positives.. location excellent, we were lucky to have a room with a big balcony and view over the pool and the leprechaun bar was great. Loved Stalida but wouldn’t stay here again,
