Just family!
My family has been a guest here for many years. We are welcomed and enjoy all the amenities of the facility. There are offers for pretty much every budget. My children and I love the gardenrooms and also the very modern equipped terraced bungalows.
The children are welcome and can move freely around the complex. The pool is a big attraction for us (mainly for the children). I would like to see some modernisation here.
The food and drinks offered at meals and also at the bar are appealing and tasteful. If you have any requests, questions or problems, you can always contact the owner family or / and the hardworking, warm staff!
For us, the Valley Village is a temporary home that is absolutely part of the village, like the rocks and the cats.

Wouldn't come here again.
The former glory has faded. Unfinished gardens. Good breakfast and very bad dinner and generally worn hotel.

Great hotel in terms of value for money
A somewhat aging hotel which needs some maintenance. Cleaning is fine. Beds good. Half board fine. Staff very friendly and helpful. It feels like coming home. Been for the 3rd time now. Pool simple. Bar open all day and evening. Is 20 min walk from center

Reasonable value for money, Cats in Need
We recently stayed in a charming bungalow accommodation and found it to be quiet, pleasant and comfortable.
The bungalows are clean and nicely maintained, each featuring a nice private terrace set in a peaceful garden. The space is modest but functional.
The layout is flat and easy to navigate, making it very suitable for guests with disabilities or young children. Parking is limited. Staff is friendly and efficacious.
Breakfast is simple but enjoyable, with tables outside in the garden area. We did not tested dinner; the buffet was small.
Matala beach is close, well equipped, not too crowed at beginning of the season (end May). Water shoes needed.
As already identified multiple time in previous evaluation, there are many stray cats in/ around the hotel, most clearly in need for food and care. The current situation of hungry, unsterilized cats leads to overpopulation and suffering. This is causing distress both to the animals and to guests. The hotel management should organise sterilization and sufficient feeding stations. They are quiet and nice cats; many are/could be domestic ones. It’s heartbreaking.
Until hotel management act, if you’re still planning to stay here and if you care about these animals, help: feed them discretely/sign on-line survey to authorities/donate to Creta association/adopt and/or continue lobbying hotel management. Stray cats are everywhere in Creta; I did only see worst in Cyprus with mistreatment and dying cats. Greece is worse than Africa on this topic. Situation in/around Matala is extremely bad, up to cats poisoning by exasperated; I did not find any local stray cats feeding/sterilization charity !

A relaxing holiday in a quiet hotel.
The first impression was negative due to an apparent overbooking. Despite a booked comfort room I got a very simple room for the first night. I noticed in the course of my stay that it probably happens here more often. The complex is a bit old, the pool would need urgent renovation.
The owners are always trying to create a family environment. The rooms are very clean. There is something for every taste at the buffet. Only the excessive number of wild cats are permanently annoying. There is an urgent need to remedy this. Staff are very short. 2 employees must make all guests happy at the same time in the evening when the house is full. They are extremely friendly despite the strain. Hopefully it will be honored, too. All in all, the price-performance ratio was ok.
