Beautiful hotel

Peaceful, relaxed picturesque. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews? Have they never stayed in an all inclusive before? Food can get a bit samey, but thats more aimed at the salad options the mains alternated every day without fail, the room was slightly odd, quite small and only 1 hanger in a wardrobe where there are not many drawers to place things so more than one hanger would be beneficial. A sticker or some information for the bathroom would be helpful, I saw a lot of reviews noting the shower floods, however after noticing when we moved the bin, there is a drain, so it’s actually a wet room, so no need for 3 days of panicking and putting down towels. The pool area is small, and there seems to be sunbed wars which we did partake in to try and get a lounger, we found the best time to pop a towel down was 6am. We are early risers so it wasn’t too much trouble for us, the bar staff were coming around frequently to ask if we’d like anything from the bar and fetching drinks for all the guests this was a lovely touch. Now the reason for not 5 stars, is on our first day it was slightly over whelming as we arrived at 2am, the reception area is separate from where we were staying (we opted for mare gardens, this is the one where the pool is) but anyone from mare can access the pool area, the food area is again separate which is slightly hard to find on our first day, after we figured out where everything was though it was just part and parcel of our trip. I think maybe this could be explained on the booking site to avoid confusion, possibly a map or a quick tour showing where everything is, now for would I come here again, the hospitality was honestly 5 stars, nothing was too much trouble, and I did want a relaxed holiday I just didn’t realise quite how relaxed it would be I thought the location being near the beach would have a little oomph too it, maybe it’s because we went early may, instead of their main season, however I can’t see this being an overly lively area! I hope this review helps, so to summarise, if you’re looking for picturesque relaxed environment this will be perfect for you.

Lovely place, would absolutely stay again!

After looking at reviews we very nearly changed our hotel but im so glad we didn’t!
Don’t get me wrong, there are some things that take some getting used to at this hotel but we had a great time.
Our review is mainly positive but there are a couple of small niggles .
Niggle number 1. There really aren’t enough sunbeds. Luckily I am an early riser and manager to get one each day but there were alot of people having to lay a towel on the floor and wait for sunbeds ro become available. The hotel did bring bran bags out but some people were selfish and despite having the cabana brfs, were using the bean bags to prop them up or were sitting on the bean bags on top of the canana cushions when there were people without a sunbed at all. Like i say, i was up early enough to get us beds each day so it didn’t affect us but i feel the staff should have been saying something to those taking the beanbags unnecessarily and preventing others using them.
Second niggle: the all inclusive drinks finish at 10pm on event nights. There was entertainment most nights while we were there, a greek night, a Sax player, Karaoke and discos but as nice as it was for there to be some entertainment, it wasn’t good enough for me to want to buy drinks to stay and watch it when i have paid to be here all inclusive, so when the all inclusive stopped at 10pm, we just went to a nearby cocktail bar for a couple of drinks instead.
The positives:
The staff are so friendly. All happy to have a chat and they even bring drinks around the pool so you don’t have to go to the bar. This is a really nice touch and doesn’t happen at alot of places. They don’t let you sit without a drink for long at all, they are always on the go. We tipped them towards the end of the week because the service had been so great.
The food was pretty good. The restaurant isn’t on site but really isn’t far. It has a lovely view of the sea. There isn’t masses of choice but there is certainly a few good options at both lunch and tea, even for a fussy eater. Even if you didn’t like the meat/fish options, there was always pizza and chips, chicken nuggets, salad. But i often had the various other dishes they had to offer and enjoyed almost everything i had. I have seen people complain that it is the same every day, it really isn’t. Like i say there is always pizza, chips, chicken nuggets and pasta bolognaise but the other dishes change every day.
The rooms are nice, very modern and comfortable. They all have a smart tv so you can sign into your netflix, disney plus, prime accounts to watch. There is a safe in the room but the instructions are in a drawer under the kettle and we didn’t realise until near the end of our stay but we didn’t miss it. We don’t really take anything valuable anyway. There is a fridge, kettle , mugs and tea/coffee in your room. It looks like there isn’t much storage bit there is a bit more than you realise as the drawers aren’t obvious. There is a bedside table with a good sized drawer and 2 drawers under the kettle. Then the wardrobe and a cupboard above the wardrobe where there is a spare pillow. I found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable and they have a proper quilt rather than a sheet which was great, i really hate when places just have a sheet. There is air conditioning, a balcony with table and chairs. We paid a little extra for a pool view room and had room 825 which is a great room. The shower was nice, decent water pressure. Cleaners cane daily and changed towels every day. I think sheets were changed a few times too. They do a great job.
Overall, the place is clean and tidy and well taken care of.

All Inclusive not our thing

Room modern, lovely, very clean
Staff not very friendly or helpful.
The AI option is in a separate building, food quality was excellent, drinks however we're awful and limited.
First time we have done AI, wouldn't do it again, not our thing, very regimented and busy.
Nice pool, but unfriendly staff.
Had to check out at 11 and lost all use of the AI and facilities, even though we weren't flying home till the evening, so had to pay to eat somewhere.
Lots of steps and trip hazards at the hotel.
But the price with Love Holidays made it an absolute bargain, and Georgiopolis is lovely.

Not a 4 star hotel

The rooms were very modern, we were given a cold plate of food on arrival (1am), and there were 2 bottle of water in the fridge. The air conditioning was very good and the bed was comfy. The TV can connect to Netflix, Disney, YouTube and anything else, we used a HDMI cable. There was a sewage smell sometimes in the room near the sink and bathroom. We had a nice view of the sea even though we did not pay for sea view. We had booked mare garden but was actually put in mare village but this was not an issue for us, although at checkout we did see 2 couples complaining that they were not staying in rooms as nice as advertised.
The let down for us was the food and drinks. I have not seen any other review say this (because it is not mentioned anywhere) but I think it is good to know that the restaurant is shared between 6 hotels: mare garden, mare village, mare boutique, mare blue suites, fereniki resort and summer beach hotel. For a 4 star hotel, I would not really expect to have a restaurant shared with so many others. The food quality was very inconsistent. Breakfast food was often cold (eggs, bacon, beans, mushrooms)- so I ended up having onion rings and pancakes which were freshly cooked, so these were not too bad. There is also yoghurt and fruit. We found that the nicest cakes and doughnuts were served at breakfast which is a bit strange, even for being on holiday. We found that during lunch and dinner, we would go up a 2nd time for food and some things would be replaced with completely different things. Labels are confusing and misleading so be careful is you have allergies or dietary requirements. Overall, they had some nice options, but was quite disappointing.
The pool snack bar had pots of fruit, yoghurt and sandwiches. The sandwiches were not great but the fruit and yoghurt were, although they were not at all fresh. The reception has left over cake slices which are okay if you’re hungry.
When you were guided to your seat to eat, waiters would come to your table immediately and ask what you wanted to drink. They worked tirelessly throughout the day and were very nice. The staff in general were nice.
There are 4 bars that you have access to with all inclusive: the restaurant, reception, the pool bar and the beach bar. I think you can go to the sister hotels but not quite sure. The soft drinks were cola, cola lite, Fanta orange, Fanta lemon, sprite, tonic water and juices. Every bar we got drinks from had a completely different quality, even for the same drinks - I ended up mostly drinking water. We tried some of the cocktails, which were best at the pool and beach bar. These were also very varied in their quality depending on the bartender and could be very weak or very strong alcohol. We liked the blue lagoon cocktail.
The water in the mini fridge is not replenished, and if you want a bottle from one of the bars they charge you €3 which is crazy, although they do have water in little kegs with fruit.
When we arrived, the receptionist was lovely and helped us carry our bags to our room, and gave us all the information we needed. However, when we left we stored our bags in the luggage room which is downstairs from reception. My boyfriend went to collect our 3 suitcases and the lady who showed him to them did not help him carry them and was very rude to him. The luggage scale was broken when we went.
The pool is located in mare garden hotel, and there are nowhere near enough sun beds considering it is shared between mare garden, mare village, summer beach and fereniki resort. Sun beds difficult to get so you need to wake up around 7am to get one, people just put their towels on there and go back to their rooms. We managed to get a couple at around 4-5pm when people would leave but this is temperamental. The pool shuts at 6 but lots of people stay there after to just sunbathe.
There isnt much entertainment, mostly just karaoke nights which is a DJ who takes requests and some people got up to sing, but apart from that not a lot. All inclusive drinks at the pool bar end at 10pm on entertainment nights.
You have to pay €10 a night tourist tax and beach sun beds are €10 for 2 sun beds, or €25 for the gazebo ones. If you have a late flight (chekc out is at 11am) , you have to pay €30 to keep the room until 3pm, €50 until 6pm and €90 until 11pm. Meals are not included in this price. Bring your own beach towel as it is €20 cash deposit for hotel ones and €3 per day for laundry.
If you do end up staying here, I would recommend visiting Rethymno (30 minute bus ride away) and Lake Kournas (you can get a green train for £7 pp return, there is a little train station by the beach).

Ana

I read the reviews before coming here; I saw a lot of negative ones but came hoping for the best—only to find that they were true.
The rooms we stayed in were very dirty and full of dust.
There were very unpleasant odors near the hotel exit.
The room linens and towels were never changed.
We paid for All-Inclusive, yet cocktails like Aperol, Hugo, and Sex on the Beach came at an extra cost. And after 22:00 u have to pay extra for all drinks
The food was good, but the menu was exactly the same every day.
Unlike our experiences at other destinations, the in-room minibar was never stocked with water or soft drinks, even though we had an All-Inclusive package.
The staff is highly incompetent and unable to resolve issues.
We tried to make the most of our vacation, but I would never return here
