Great place in a quiet area
we stayed one night here and was the gorgeous and modern boutique hotel. Breakfast was awesome, not buffet style but with menu. There is no elevator bit the staff is helpful to carry the luggage. Location is quiet but sometimes that helps if you want to get away from crowded towns. They offer free Blue Cave tours.

They only care about money
We were encouraged to come here on a trip from Kefalonia to Zakynthos. The food we ordered was just reheated hence the fast service and was just very mediocre. They charged us £5 for bread that they made out to be complimentary and refused to take it off the bill when we told them that we never even wanted it. The customer service was absolutely appalling some members of staff were so rude shouting at us when he had raised an issue and when we were just trying to have a reasonable conversation. When we were trying to discuss this they were trying to make us go upstairs so they could sit more people on our table highlighting the fact that this business is more worried about profit and getting as much money as possible then it’s customers. I do not recommend you go here.

Horrible experience
We had lunch there on the advice of the crew who took us on an excursion to Zakynthos. Bad food- precooked and heated- hence the speed of service. Highly rude staff, especially Mr. who seemed the owner. Uncommentable toilets. Never again, should we return to Zakynthos.

A BIT LESS THAN YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A 2* HOTEL
We decided to stay at this hotel for one night as we were leaving Zakynthos for Kefalonia by ferry in the morning. We visited Ag. Nicholaos a few days before to check it out and it seemed fine. A small place with a nice beach and 2 or 3 restaurants. Asked at the desk for availability and were told it would be 40 euros including breakfast and a free boat trip to the blue caves and the Shipwreck beach.
When we arrived we were given a room with a nice view and all the amenities of a two star hotel!!
Asking for the boat trip we were told by the same lady on the front desk that it will be 15 euros each as it is only free if you book the room through the internet!!!! After we objected and were referred to the owner sitting on the cash desk of the restaurant at the front it was agreed that it will be free.
Next morning we went to check out around 9 am, as the ferry leaves at 9.45, and were asked for 55 euros for the room. We pointed out we were told 40 and show the reception the Web site quoting 36 euros per night. She said that the owner was not in till 10.30 and that was the price she was told to ask.
As we wonted to get to the ferry and, frankly, I could not be asked to get involved in an argument over 20 euros, I place a 50 Euro note on the desk and walked out, never to return. I do not like people that try to cheat quest especially as the whole economy of the island depends on the tourist.
One redeeming fact, breakfast was nice and served by a waiter that takes your order!

Great value
We stayed here at La Grotta for a week .. the staff are outstanding , I nothing is too much trouble . Elana is the best front of house lady so helpful , always happy and greets you with a smile .. as is Alexander . The room is comfortable , clean sheets and towels every day .. a lovely cleaning lady keeps the room clean . A balcony to have your sundowners on with a lovely view .. a fridge to keep your drinks cool . The only downside is the shower , not great but you soon get use to it !! Easy to walk to tavernas .. best of all it's amazing value st 30 euros a night .. o and and an amazing breakfast .. it's great
