only because there is no other hotel
First stop (2 hours from the airport) was the village of Distomo, chosen for the proximity of the Osios Loukas cloister and the site of Ancient Delphi.
Distomo is currently a nice village but is best known for the massacre of 214 men, women and children by the SS in 1944. This carnage is commemorated in a memorial on a hilltop overlooking the village.
In Distomo there are several cafés and at least one decent restaurant (Ekath).
The only hotel that I saw has clean spacious rooms but that is all. Reception was in the crowded bar downstairs, it took ages to find my reservation (made by booking.com), a patron had to translate as no English speaking staff was available and the breakfast was less than minimal : a brik pack of orange juice, some toast, jam and coffee.
For a double room single occupation B&B I paid €40. Wifi. Parking on the street.

Great location and really friendly people
It is not probably the ideal place to take children to, my mothers room on the first floor had a balcony overlooking the square in front of the church, the church bells will ensure that you probably won't oversleep we did not mind this. My room was also on the first floor with a large balcony with views of local buildings and mountains / hills in the background. Having a car is essential if you wish to tour the surrounding countryside, coast or sites such as Delphi or the monastry which is a thousand years old and still in use. We visited at easter which is a real big deal in Greece with festivities going on over the weekend. This location is not your typical tourist location but if you want a taste of the real Greece then this place would do nicely.
