Absolutely Breathtaking – 10/10 So Far!
We only arrived last night, and I have never ever stayed anywhere that made me feel the need to come on here and write a review just 24 hours in!
This place is absolutely breathtaking. The grounds, the views, the amenities — everything is just stunning. It’s so peaceful and tranquil, and you really do get what you pay for.
Breakfast is a 10/10! There is such an amazing choice, whether you’re travelling with kids or without. There are adult-only seating areas too, which is perfect if you’re looking for a quieter, more peaceful experience, as well as dedicated areas for families.
On arrival, we were given a full entertainment leaflet showing everything happening around the hotel throughout the week, which is such a lovely touch. I honestly cannot wait to spend the rest of the week here and see what else is in store!
If you’re considering staying here, take my Irish word for it and BOOK IT! ❤️
I’m sure I’ll be back on Friday, when we’re due to leave, to write another fantastic review because so far, this place has completely exceeded our expectations.

We had an unbelievable time at this hotel. It has something for everyone - multiple pools (chilled adults only, olympic size pool for swimming, fun pools for families), multiple restaurants (we loved the Italian Osteria). Breakfast was really varied and high quality. Clarins toiletries in the rooms. Staff were wonderful. Also really convenient from the airport - only 10-15 min taxi. Can't recommend this place enough.

How do your catering staff produce such outstanding food for hundreds of guests? Swimming pools are the perfect temperature. A market and shopping parade offer everything you need for your stay. The most beautiful views and grounds. The interior design is fresh and contemporary. A stunning collection of sofas and and Eames lounge chairs. Interestingly, this is a single, family run hotel, which explains the incredible service and hospitality. Having travelled the world, I’ve now found a sanctuary for my family. We hope to return soon.

Perfect Hotel
The perfect hotel. Wonderful facilities maintained to the highest standards. Staff that can’t do enough to assist you, often going above and beyond. The finest food. How do your catering staff produce such outstanding food for hundreds of guests? Swimming pools are the perfect temperature. A market and shopping parade offer everything you need for your stay. It Is Not Getting Better
I have stayed at this hotel around six times. I have also tried several other hotels on Kos, and I can confirm that Neptune is probably one of the best hotels on the island.
We stay there not necessarily because it is perfect, but mostly because it offers around 80% - 90% of what we need, and it is simply nice to return to the same familiar place. However, the problem is that every time we come back, more things seem to get worse, while very few things improve.
Why We Still Like It
- Good pools. I especially like the indoor pool, which is usually empty. There are no balls flying around, so you can give swimming lessons there and actually enjoy swimming.
- Large and diverse grounds. Since there is not much to do outside the hotel, it is nice to be able to take a pleasant walk within the hotel grounds.
- A good variety of restaurants.
- It is quiet. There is no loud open-air disco late in the evening. The only exception is the Greek Night concert on Thursdays.
- No all-inclusive option with unlimited free alcohol. People who are looking for that usually stay somewhere else, which contributes to a better overall quality of guests.
- The excellent Tam Tam Café is only a short walk away along the beach. I am not even sure what I like more: the hotel itself or that café.
The Negative Side
The general problem is that Neptune used to be a very cosy hotel mainly targeting Swiss and German guests. Now it is trying, rather unsuccessfully, to become a global resort.
Several years ago, the hotel replaced the old ice-cream stand with a new one that probably looks better in marketing photos but serves unattractive, extremely sugary ice cream. It only opens at 12:30 and stays open until late in the evening. Why? I want to be able to buy ice cream at 11:00. Lunch service in the restaurants also starts at 12:30. It is unclear how they arrived at such an inconvenient starting time.
As mentioned in other reviews, the beaches are not suitable for small children. The small sandy beach that is still available was also full of sharp stones in the water. Somehow, the beaches at the nearby TUI Magic Life and Horizon hotels do not seem to have the same problems. Perhaps instead of investing money in rebuilding the reception area for better marketing photos, more money should be spent on improving the beach.
Sunbed reservations are no longer controlled. Instead, the hotel has simply added more sunbeds, placing them so close together that guests practically have to breathe on each other.
The children’s entertainment, especially the mini disco, has become terrible. Six years ago, it was a fantastic experience. Now the hotel has apparently decided to hire some international entertainment teams. Even though around 90% of the guests are German-speaking, they have replaced German songs with English ones and hired some rather low-quality entertainers.
If the hotel wants to target British customers, it will need to offer unlimited cheap whisky and low-quality food. However, it will then lose many of its existing German-speaking regular guests.
The overall quality of the guests also seemed lower this year. There were far fewer visitors from Switzerland than in previous years. This may be because, for the prices Neptune charges, families can find better alternatives elsewhere.
Despite all these criticisms, I still give Neptune five stars. I believe this is a fair rating when compared with other hotels and the general level of service in Greece. If the same hotel were located in the United States or the Caribbean, I would probably give it four stars, or perhaps even three.

We do not understand how you came to the conclusion that we have changed our strategy and are now attempting to become a global resort. Our primary markets remain unchanged since your previous visit, and we continue to focus mainly on German-speaking guests, who comprise 90% of our clientele.
Regarding our Gelateria, we regret to learn that the current concept does not meet your expectations. Generally, any changes we make at our resort are aimed at enhancing our offerings for our guests. In this case, we are proud to offer the leading, award-winning, premium Greek brands Kayak and Chillbox at Neptune Luxury Resort. Kayak ice cream is made using fresh Greek milk, cream, and real fruit, while Chillbox offers frozen yogurt with a wide variety of toppings. Therefore, objectively, the quality of what we now offer is superior to the previous products, and we regret that you do not share this perspective. Fortunately, the vast majority of our guests appreciate this upgrade.
As for the beach, we are sorry to hear your opinion. Due to changing weather conditions, our beach is susceptible to erosion, and combating natural forces is challenging. We are working closely with a team of experts on this matter. Every year, we review our measures and learn from past efforts. Last year, based on new studies, we enhanced our approach with the latest technologies and materials to improve the beach area.
Currently, we offer two inviting beach areas: one in front of the hotel, which is protected and measures approximately 20 meters wide and 200 meters long, and another at Troja Bar, which extends about 40 meters. The investments we have made in our beach over the years significantly exceed those allocated for renovating our Lobby Area.
We regret to hear that our children's entertainment did not meet your expectations this year. We are somewhat surprised by your feedback, as our overall guest satisfaction rate on this topic has increased, with many families expressing great enjoyment of our entertainment program and children's activities. Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback and will consider your comments.
