THIS IS OUR CLEAR RECOMMENDATION ON PARADISE BEACH, SANYANG.

Disappointed
The room was old, poorly maintained, and had a strong unpleasant smell. In addition, there was an overwhelming fish odor around the property and beach area. There were several dead fish washed up on the beach, which made the smell even worse. Our young son was particularly bothered by it, and we did not feel comfortable staying any longer.
The overall condition of the resort was also disappointing. Much of the beach furniture and outdoor facilities were worn out, damaged, or in need of replacement. The entrance to the resort looked neglected, unattractive, and far from welcoming, creating a poor first impression upon arrival. The photos on the website and booking platforms create a much more attractive and well-maintained impression than the reality. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the resort did not live up to what had been advertised.
We were also informed that Wi-Fi was available at the resort. However, during our stay there was no working Wi-Fi at all. Other guests told us that the internet had already been unavailable for several days, making this seem like an ongoing issue rather than a temporary outage.
Breakfast was very basic and disappointing, with limited choice and small portions.
The most disappointing aspect was the response from management. When we raised our concerns and explained why we wanted to leave, there was little understanding or willingness to help. The manager was unfriendly, showed no interest in finding a solution, and refused to refund the remaining four unused nights, even though we reported our concerns immediately after arrival.
As a result, we moved to another resort. For virtually the same price, we are now staying in a clean and well-maintained two-bedroom apartment. It is also located directly on the beach and even has swimming pools. The level of cleanliness, maintenance, attention to detail, comfort, and customer service is significantly better. This confirmed to us that our expectations for this price range were completely reasonable.
While Jungle Beach Resort benefits from a beachfront location, this was not enough to compensate for the poor maintenance, overwhelming fish smell, dead fish on the beach, lack of working Wi-Fi, disappointing breakfast, and poor customer service.
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this property. We were really looking forward to our stay, but it turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of our trip to The Gambia.

On the whole a disappointment
The have a nice garden and a nice beach area. They have replanted palm trees on the beach which is very nice, but more trees are needed.
The staff was really nice.
A few mornings they made us some local porridge, which was very nice.
When we booked Jungle Beach through Booking, instead of directly with the owner, we ended up paying 160 extra Euro (4 persons, 5 nights) for our stay (we paid 610 Euro). We did not get the 160 Euro back from Booking. I tried to talk to the manager about it when we were there, but he was extremely unpleasant when I wanted to talk about money. He said Booking charges him a lot of money and that is the reason why he must add that much to the price.
The place is overpriced, also if you get the cheaper rate directly through the owner. We had much better experiences in lower price categories at other hotels during our stay in the Gambia!
When we arrived in the afternoon the place was full of locals smoking grass. It was not nice turning up with kids with all the locals smoking grass. There were locals there everyday smoking grass in the evening, but not as many as when we arrived Saturday afternoon. Their bar is a local hangout for men in rasta-hair drinking or smoking. No one was unpleasant in any way, but if the owner is serious about tourism, I believe he must rethink.
In the bar/the reception the TV was on all the time, it was loud. Or loud music. I quite liked it when they played Gambian music, but I totally disliked it when they played old western music.
The standard of the room is a lot lower than I had expected for the price given. Parts of the room are not sufficiently clean. Simple Gambian furniture would have been much nicer than old, fabric western style furniture.
The room was small, closet feeling. We didn’t find it pleasant. The room was very hot (end of October) since there is almost no breeze travelling through the room. The houses are not built parallel to the beach. There are two small windows in the room, but there is a wall between them which stops the wind to get through. And half of the larger window is covered with glass. The larger window is the window you see on the pictures.
The breakfast is of low quality (I don’t eat beans and egg for breakfast). The cheapest marmalade, and canned, not tasty milk. Bread was fresh though. Coffee looked like tea. We got oranges and bananas as well, and boiled eggs. But they made us local porridge three mornings though, which we appreciated very much.
It is not pleasant or beautiful to take a walk in any direction outside the hotel area. Litter and rough buildings. There are no palm trees along the beach. I can image the beach a long time ago, fringed with palm trees, it must then have been very beautiful, but not any longer. Jungle beach has replanted palm trees, but the rest of the places along the beach should do the same. There is no jungle.
The beach-area with the sunbeds was full of litter. They did seem to pick up some litter, but most of the litter was simply swept around. I picked up so many metal lids from bottles, I was afraid me or my children would hurt our feet on them. But there is plenty left.
We tried to use the air-condition one night since it was so hot. We had to pay extra for that. It did not work, it broke down every ten minutes. The staff asked my husband to go out and switch on the safety catch every time it went off. But that wasn’t possible since it broke down 4 times in maybe 30 minutes. The day after, the manager made me understand I was supposed to be pleased that he had booked an electrician to come around the day after the electricity had broken down. When the electrician came the staff asked my husband to show the electrician were the problems had appeared, they were not interested themselves.

Dilapidated, full of arachnids, annoying bumsters
The beach is super beautiful, but bumsters follow your every step. In the evenings they come to your tables, sit down and begin to order food and drinks on your bill. You have to be very "persistent" to get rid of them. They roam the grounds of the hotel freely (and are welcome by a number of women/couples, yes).
We didn't like the big spiders in the hotel's bar and in the bungalows/rooms, wolf spiders and wall crab spiders in particular.
The transfer from/to the airport was problematic, too, unfortunately.
