A perfect French idyll

Clean and comfortable gites. Great family outdoor pool and games room. Jacky and Neville are extremely helpful hosts. Perfect base to explore the Cognac region. A super relaxing holiday destination. So good we have booked for next year.

Highly recommended - Will almost certainly return for another re;axing visit

Extremely well equiped & comfortable Gite in wonderful surroundings. Helpful & knowledgable Hosts & 2 adorable Labra-doggies....
Ideal touring base for the Cognac region, Gite has an extensive Visitors guide prepared by the hosts listing attractions and excursions worth taking. The local village has a well stocked Intermarche supermarket for those essentail holiday supplies.

Wow!

A great little find off the beaten track so you can unwind after sightseeing.
We stayed in the house for 4. It was very well equipped, comfy and, most importantly, cool in the baking heat of the August summer. There's a full range of cooking equipment, lots of towels and bedding plus a good internet connection and access to English TV.
The pool area is lovely, a real suntrap and we had the pool to ourselves the evenings we used it. There's plenty of pool toys for both the active and those who just want to float around in the sun so no need to bring your own.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. There's a comprehensive guide to the local attractions and restaurants in the house. This is supplemented brilliantly with a reception area positively brimming with leaflets, maps and books on the local area.
Can't recommend this gem of a place enough. Many thanks to the owners Jacky and Neville for a very enjoyable stay.

Gorgeous L'Ancienne Distillerie

Just returned from a fantastic week in this location. The accommodation is lovely and the location perfect - especially if you are looking for peace and quiet! Lots of walking and cycling straight from the door and it you are passed by three cars whilst out you've hit rush hour!! Lovely restaurants in the local area and Cognac just 12kms away has everything you could require during your stay as well as being well worth a visit. The accommodation has everything necessary to enhance your stay and is refreshingly clean. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts Jacky and Neville should you require their help and Jacky has all the info, should you want to know what is on, in and around the local area! The worst experience about the holiday was having to leave to go home - if only we could have stayed a month! Can't wait to go back next year.

Return to the Martell gite.

This was our second trip to L'Ancienne Distillerie, having spent two weeks in the same gite in June 2017.
We had a wonderful holiday again this year - the two weeks passed by too fast! - and would love to return again next year, if holiday schedules allow!!
It is an ideal base for touring in the area, with Bordeaux, Angouleme, Royan and La Rochelle within easy reach in a car.
The weather was perfect for us, and the few rain showers (mostly at night) did not impact on our enjoyment of the holiday.
Jacky and Neville were always on hand if we had any questions, and provided a few suggestions for sight-seeing trips while we were there.
