STUNNING HILLTOP CHATEAU HOTEL!!
The Château de Rochecotte is a stunning chateau hotel in the Loire Valley. Set high on a hill with incredible views and lush forest, the setting is stunning and the experience is unforgettable. The room we were allotted was quite comfortable with a quality bathroom and a comfortable bed. On the value scale the hotel was fairly priced for the experience, Service was courteous and efficient. The highest compliment we can pay this chateau hotel is that we cannot wait to stay again and for a longer duration.

An excellent chateau visit
What a delightful stay. We had room 15, a charm room & found it peaceful, spacious, cool and beautifully tastefully decorated. We enjoyed breakfast on both mornings, it’s a buffet with plenty of choice but you can request an omelette if you’d like. I enjoyed brioche, smoked salmon & scrambled eggs with a mimosa or two.
We used one of their many electric chargers for our stay. We arrived at about 7pm and started charging. At the time of our stay in June 2026 it was €26 for 24hrs. We let the car charge all night, the next morning we headed out to view some chateaus and when we returned we plugged in again to top it back up. We stopped charging just before 7pm so were only charged for one 24hr session of charging which we found extremely useful & reasonable.
The staff were lovely & went above & beyond to treat you like kings & queens. We dined both nights in the restaurant, once in the conservatory and once in the older dining room & we enjoyed both spaces.
We enjoyed using the heated pool & loved that there were two rubber rings there to float on.
We visited Villandry Chateau and Azzay de Rideau town for lunch & their chateau too, it made a lovely day out very accessible from Rochecotte.
My one watch out is that they ran out of brioche slices on the breakfast buffet both days at about 9:15 and seemed to replace most things but not that.
We loved our stay & would recommend Rochecotte and we hope to return.

Grandeur with a Breakfast Gap
Our stay at Château Rochecotte was, in many ways, a delight wrapped in grandeur. The building itself is magnificent, set within tranquil, beautifully kept grounds that invite you to slow down and breathe a little deeper. The presence of the remarkable 200-year-old cedar tree alone is worth a pause with a coffee (or something stronger).
The staff, particularly the younger team members, were consistently charming and respectful. Marc deserves a special mention for his attentiveness and professionalism—he struck exactly the right balance between being present and unobtrusive, and clearly took care to understand our preferences.
Our bedroom was another highlight: spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed. The Penhaligon toiletries and sumptuously soft robes added a touch of indulgence, while the air conditioning kept everything at a perfectly ambient temperature. Waking up to views over the gardens was a genuine pleasure.
However, the experience was not without its quirks. Dinner, while featuring food that was quite good, felt slightly at odds with its setting. The conservatory lacked the intimacy one might expect, and the musical accompaniment—somewhere between ecclesiastical and overture—created a somewhat puzzling atmosphere. It wasn’t unpleasant, just… unexpected.
Breakfast, unfortunately, was where things unravelled. In contrast to the warm welcome of the evening, the morning felt rather like a self-guided treasure hunt—with limited clues. Tables remained uncleared and unset, buffet items were missing or not replenished (milk and glasses seemed particularly elusive), and an empty bottle of fizz stood as a rather optimistic centrepiece. Guests, ourselves included, wandered about with quiet determination, hoping to piece together a coherent breakfast experience.
There was also little guidance offered regarding hot food options—whether one could request fried or boiled eggs, for instance, remained something of a mystery rather than a menu choice.
In short, Château Rochecotte offers a setting of real beauty and comfort, supported by capable and personable staff. With a little more consistency—particularly in the morning—it could easily match its service to its surroundings. As it stands, it’s a charming stay with a few gently bewildering moments that you’ll likely look back on with a smile.

Terrible.
Poorly maintained, dirty and dusty hotel. Unpleasant and unskilled staff. Worthy of a formula 1 maximum.

Votre séjour n’est malheureusement pas passé inaperçu, tant auprès de nos équipes que de certains de nos hôtes. Plusieurs comportements, marqués par de la discourtoisie envers notre personnel et de l’agressivité envers d’autres clients, ont été constatés et regrettés. Votre comportement nous a contraints à appeler la gendarmerie pour faire état de votre agressivité.
Vous étiez en chambre Prestige, une chambre de 40 m² avec vue sur le parc et située au premier étage. Chaque moment de votre séjour a fait l'objet d'une revendication : tout d'abord nous avons eu "le malheur" de vous demander si vous souhaitiez une table au restaurant. Une question « scandaleuse » de votre point de vue puisque nous aurions dû visiblement nous abstenir et peut-être le deviner par nous-mêmes ? Ensuite, une colère de votre part en raison d'une pièce manquante sur notre jeu de backgammon. Cette situation vous était tellement désagréable qu'elle a nécessité l'intervention d'autres clients témoins de la scène et choqués par tant d'excès (au point de se porter témoins en cas de plainte). Nous avons également été la cible de propos injurieux que nous ne pouvons passer sous silence. De tels termes sont inacceptables et ne reflètent en rien les valeurs de respect que nous défendons.
Chers clients, sachez que derrière des comportements colériques et des mots blessants, il y a des femmes et des hommes qui s'investissent avec passion pour offrir à nos hôtes une expérience agréable. Toutefois, le respect doit être réciproque.
Vous n'avez visiblement pas apprécié notre hôtel et nous vous souhaitons sincèrement de trouver un établissement à la hauteur de vos exigences. Sachez que de notre côté nous nous serions bien passés d’une telle visite.

One of the best hotels in Touraine.
Magnificent hotel and very well maintained. Very large air-conditioned room with terrace and excellent restaurant. It is at the level of relais and châteaux but at a reasonable price.
