Pas déçu
Maintenant chez Seb et Claire qui viennent de reprendre l’hôtel.Chambre simple mais fonctionnelle avec une belle salle d'eau.Petit déjeuner au top et malgré qu'ils ne font pas restaurant au soir,nous ont quand même fait à manger et une très bonne cuisine simple comme à la maison.merci Claire.Et toujours là pour rendre service à la clientèle.Nous vous souhaitons de réussir de votre projet professionnel et nous reviendrons vous voir.

Stay somewhere else
We stayed at Chez Seb & Claire during the recent heatwave.
I want to be as honest as possible because I think the reviews left previously elsewhere are a little misleading.
Claire brought us a fan for our room as it was so hot, which was kind of her.
She also filled our water bottles for us (and charged for tap water as far as I could tell!) and did her best if we needed anything.
Seb did not make any attempt to speak to us. I understand the language barrier and we never expect anyone to know English in anyone else's country, but he did not attempt to speak at all, not even when we used the bar.
Our room was adequate enough for our stay. We did not plan to be in our room much, but the heatwave changed this.
I read 'spacious rooms' in the reviews.
Our room was 4x4m square including the bathroom and hanging space for clothes. They are not spacious. It was fine for us, no complaints.
Bathroom was clean, though the cistern was cracked!
Toiletries supplied: a bottle of shampoo for blonde hair (I'm brunette!) this just made us laugh. My partner hoped he might come home with flowing blonde locks. He's still bald Water was hot, pressure good.
'Daily housekeeping' No one came near our room in 5 days. We had to ask for toilet roll which is a real no for me. Put two or three in the room! We only needed two for five days!
The towels were hand towels and old but there were quite a few of them.
We had a severe ant problem.
This was clearly an issue before we arrived because there was an ant killer on the bedside table!! Where you would put a drink? Poison?
Claire did kindly come and spray, because stupidly my partner had left a cake on the side which caused an ant inferno.
The room was swept once by Claire but the ants continued all week even though we had no food/sweets or edibles in our room at all.
We had ants in our bed, in our clothes, and we were constantly smacking them with our shoes. Sorry, we have left dead ants everywhere.
Our bed was very uncomfortable as the mattress was very old and sank in the middle. The square pillows (only two) felt like they were filled with chunks of foam. And we had to extract the ants...
Booking.com states this hotel has a restaurant and that there are places to eat nearby. The hotel restaurant closes at 2pm. The rest of the vicinity, within 20 odd miles, everything was closed! No bars, no restaurants, nothing. Everything was shut up except a boulangerie towards Mauléon which really saved us. There was one takeaway in Mauleon which looked yuk. Terrasse restaurant looked like it had been closed long ago.
There was also a supermarket which meant bringing food back to our room to compete with the ant tsunami again. We ended up eating in the car! Not the holiday I had planned.
The reviews for breakfast here 'hearty' and 'very generous'.
We got 1 x croissant, 1 x pan au chocolat, 1 x piece of french stick. Coffee and juice.
Perfectly adequate for us so no complaints. I was just expecting something different from those reviews!
The beer was excellent in the bar, according to my partner.
Parking was right outside the room, great for us, tricky if you're no good at reversing as it fits 3-4 cars and there is no turning room.
WiFi was intermittent in our room. I used the 5g which was fine as I have world roaming on my tariff.
Puy du Fou is a 26-35 minute drive away so it was a good base locality wise.
Normally, I would take these things up with the host during the stay. Why didn't I? Mostly because of the language barrier, it was so hot, everyone was exhausted and I didn't want to be a pain. I just want to be honest here.
One last thing. My partner smokes. It doesn't bother me. This hotel has a tobacco shop which also does not bother me, but I did not expect to smell a months worth of dirty fag butts at every breakfast. See the first photo I have posted. These were not emptied or taken away at all in our five day stay.
THIS IS GRIM!!!! It has to be a health hazard and it stinks when you walk in the door. Now imagine it in 40 degrees +
It seems to be some sort of badge of honour 'how much can we smoke/cram in to one ashtray?' Disgusting.
For this reason alone, I would not stay here again.

I've traveled extensively and I've dealt with worse things crawling in to my bed believe it or not, the ants were not a deal breaker, it's hot, it's nature, but it's an ongoing issue that you need to deal with before guests arrive.

Peut mieux faire
Nous avons passé 2 nuits chez nico
Chambre correcte ,propre, pas mal de mouches, petit déjeuner correct avec viennoiseries et pain frais...
Juste dommage pas de rideau à la fenêtre ( Nous étions au rez de chaussee)
Et parking de l autre côté de la rue...
Déco minimaliste...
Pour le prix (75 € la nuit)...C est un peu juste..dommage
