Eclectic, charming, comfortable

Spent 2 nights here while visiting La Rochellefor the 1st time since 1986. Great location 5 minutes walk from the vieux port. Gérard and Elisabeth were very attentive hosts, with some great tips and charming little touches that made our stay very special. More like staying in a home than a guesthouse!

An amazing find!

Whilst searching for a bed and breakfast in La Rochelle to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, I came across Cour des Dames and seeing the photos, knew it was exactly what we were looking for. I found the whole process from booking, arriving, staying there and leaving to be absolutely 5 star.
Elizabeth is a fantastic host and offered us an aperitif on arrival, so she could explain all the best places to eat and visit. Our room, le retour du plage, was really stunning with a lovely en suite and we really appreciated the tea making facilities in the room.
Breakfast, as others have mentioned, was simply amazing, beautifully served on beautiful China and white table cloths. Elizabeth stopped to chat each time she bought out more food and can make a fantastic pot of English tea. If we are ever back in La Rochelle, we would definitely go back. Such a change from boring hotel rooms!

Nice place, wouldn't return

First things is that this should not be classed as a hotel but rather a B&B.
When we eventually found it we where greeted by a gentleman who was not who we had been communicating with but her husband. A charming fellow who sat us down and pointed out a map of all the places to see! Helpful but time consuming. Our biggest hurdle was parking. All of the street parking and small car parks nearby had to be cleared for the middle of the night so the market could be set up. We spent two hours driving around trying to find a car park that would let us park for longer than 7 hours. In the end we called Lenord and he came and got in our car with us and showed us where to park (29 euro for two days)
The room was lovely and bright and very very clean. Be warned the walls are extremely thin and the whole place is very quiet, you really do feel like you have to be on your very best behaviour all of the time.
Breakfast was good, lots of it and the pictures do it justice.
We didn't like that our room didn't get cleaned till after 7:30pm when we where out! Overall great location, lots of external noise especially when the market is on, and very hard to park. I would return to La rochelle but I would stay at a more mainstream hotel.

Perfect honeymoon

It's an oasis very close to the old port. The lovely couple who run it look like a celebrity couple you'd see in a magazine but don't be fooled as they are very hands on people. Marika makes her own delicious yogurts and daily she will make fresh fluffy madeleines. Rooms were so special each with their own character. Clean and just very nice.
I have nothing negative to say and would go back in a heartbeat. They will make your stay enjoyable - we found it hard to say goodbye. They always had the time of day to chat despite managing and maintaining the place all by themselves without external help. Don't delay and book your room!
