Fantastic views and a traditional village house
This was the first stop on our week long tour of southern Corsica. We chose it becuse of its proximity to Figari airport. The views from the terrace were some of the best of our trip. When we arrived the place seemed deserted but a quick phone call brought the owner Stephane, who lives about 50 yards away. Stephane was friendly and helpful. Our room in an old village house had been tastefully updated to include a large walk-in shower. Breakfast featured local preserves, delicious fresh bread and a cake made with chestnut flour, a Corsican speciality. San Gavinu is a small village with no places to eat, but Stephane recommended a restaurant in a nearby village. I think he may provide dinner if you book in advance. L'Orca di San Gavinu would be a good base for day trips to Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio and even further afield to the lovely beach at Baie de Rondinara.
Thoroughly recommended and we would definitely return.

Old building not soundproofed. The hood is very bad and does not accept criticism. Offensive and incorrect in response to comments left by customers. Not suitable for coming to rest. We hear all the noises in this old building: the toilets, the showers, the footsteps of the neighbors above. The breakfast is BOF, not at all copious or we don't have the same vision of this term. Defrost bread and fruit not every day...

Reservation Made - Payment Accepeted - Hotel Closed
I made a reservation at L’Orca di San Gavin’s on October 12, 2019, and have paid for my booking with Visa. My reservation was confirmed. I arrived at the hotel on December 29, 2019 around 17:00, but the hotel was closed! I called the owner and he informed me that the hotel was closed, and I will be receiving a refund. I am finding this way of doing business as unacceptable. As my payment was accepted on October 12, 2019, I informed the hotel, about my arrival time on December 29th between 16:00 and 17:00. There was plenty of time for the owner to let me know that he had changed his mind about keeping the hotel open between Christmas and New Year, so I could find another accommodation. I was put in an impossible situation of finding another accommodation that night. I do not appreciate this way of doing business, and consider the owner’s lack of any explanations as a very bad business practice. On December 30, 2019, I sent a message to the owner of the hotel, expressing my dissatisfaction, but received no reply…

We are truly sorry for this incident.
Sometimes we make planning mistakes like anyone can do.
This does not mean that we have a bad business practice, the error is human and the multiplicity of booking methods that we offer does not facilitate our task.
However, we have through our partners means of rehousing and refund which you have been able to benefit from and you were relocated within the hour. If the new rental is more expensive, we will pay the difference and in any case the partner's share.
Your harm is therefore not so terrible.
Be aware that this kind of incident can occur with us 1 to 3 times in a season of more than 6 months through hundreds of reservations, which represents a tiny percentage of dysfunction of our commercial practice. Our opinions on the websites of all our rental partners prove our excellence in the care of our customers. Your opinion therefore remains subjective and personal.
In addition, waiting more than 3 months to put a very negative opinion on an establishment questions us. We do not like revengeful and embittered people as you appear to us, and in fact we are delighted to have been deprived of your customers and this forever.

Pour autant nous avons à travers nos partenaires des moyens de relogement et de remboursement dont vous avez pu bénéficier et
vous avez été relogé dans l'heure. Si la nouvelle location est plus chère c'est nous qui en payons la différence et de toute façon la part du partenaire.
Votre préjudice n'est donc pas si terrible.
Sachez que ce genre d'incident peut se produire chez nous 1 à 3 fois dans une saison de plus de 6 mois à travers des centaines de réservation, ce qui représente un pourcentage infime de dysfonctionnement de notre pratique commerciale. Nos avis sur les sites de tous nos partenaires de location prouvent notre excellence dans la prise en charge de nos clients. Votre avis reste donc subjectif et personnel.
Par ailleurs attendre plus de 3 mois pour mettre un avis très négatif sur un établissement nous interroge. Nous n'apprécions pas les personnes revanchardes et aigries comme vous nous apparaissez, et de fait nous sommes ravis d'avoir été privé de votre clientèle et ce à tout jamais.

A unique stay in an old Corsican house
We stayed in the attic room which was interesting and full of character. We booked as it is ideally located for Figari airport being about 10 minutes drive from the airport. However, it was a lovely building and we would have happily stayed for longer. The rooms are large if a little low, with the attic roof, but that added to the character. The village is very quiet and felt very old worldy.
