Sublime medieval castle

We spent a wonderful night my husband and I during this summer (2024), the castles are adorable, the room is very cozy, the decor is sublime, we were able to enjoy the main room (common to the three rooms of the castle) by drinking herbal tea comfortably installed. A moment out of time!

oh time! suspend your flight

The place is magnificent and magical, a dive into another time. The rooms are very spacious, decorated with a certain taste and, to top it off, have impeccable bedding. Breakfast in the large adjoining room is plentiful and varied. Finally, the extremely kind hosts know how to tell you the story of their home, part of the great history of France.

RUDE staff

RUDE. RUDE RUDE we were looking for somewhere to stay on our return trip through France. We had found this place and decided to call in to see if we could book instead of online. We walked through looking for someone to speak to, a woman came out and was so very rude to us telling us to leave you cannot visit it us private I have guests having lunch. She did not give me the opportunity to even ask about staying I did try but gave up as she walked us out and was absolutely dreadful they way she spoke to us. I decided we would not be staying there and I hope her other guests heard how very rude she was. Hospitality does not live here.

An Amazing Castle Hotel just south of the Loire Valley

We spent two nights in this lovely castle while visiting the Loire Valley. It is a little out-of-the-way, but one of the very few Castle Hotels that are actual castles and look like a castle inside and out. Well worth a little extra driving.
The history of the castle and the owner's ancestral links to it are especially interesting and it was great talking with Hughes and Alexandra about the Castle and its restoration.

OUT OF THIS WORLD!

My stay at Chateau De Forges was divine. An exercise in time travel and happily all modern luxuries came along for the ride. The gracious owners, Alexandra and Hugues, went out of their way to make me and my travel companion comfortable. From the scrumptious breakfasts of eggs, fromage blanc with homemade compote and fresh squeeze orange juice to roaring fires in the enormous hearth, no effort was spared. The rooms are gorgeous with period antiques and lead mullioned windows. Pure charm! There was even a vase with fresh tulips. Alexandra expertly pointed me towards restaurants in the area and connected me with realtors in my house hunting search. Hugue is a history buff and took us on a visit to the chateau chapels and dependencies. I learned that owning a chateau is an act of service to a living monument that requires constant attention and Alexandra and Hugues perform this service with great devotion and joy. And all that attention trickles down to the lucky guests who stay there. Don't hesitate to pack your bags toute suite and make your way to De Forges. A magical adventure awaits!!
