Impressive castle nestled deep in the countryside near Cholet
Wow! An impressive country castle surrounded by fields which has seen better days but which is being renovated.
You make your way up to the rooms by a large wooden staircase. The rooms were comfortable with a modern bathroom and a comfortable bed. The furniture is classical.Nevertheless we felt uncomfortably hot as we had chosen to stay here on one of the hottest days of the year and the rooms are not air-conditioned do not have a fan.
We cooled off after our trip in the large swimming pool which was pleasant.
Dinner was excellent; our hosts apparently served on the Queen Mary liner and know how important good food is. Breakfast was equally impressive with a wide choice of breads, drinks, etc and included a hot breakfast.
A pleasant stay in an impressive location

Staggering!
You come here for the food.
The two owners are probably two of the most talented chefs in the world. Their pedigree is impeccable and the tiny cost of the evening meal doesn't even begin to represent the infinitely high quality and imagination of the food they serve.
To be fair most of the Chateau interiors are fairly simple and straight forward. But the dining room is a gem and once the food starts to arrive its a whole other experience.
Course after course of the most imaginative, beautifully presented food, perfectly accompanied by wine chosen by the sweetest, most efficient and effusive waiter you could ever meet, who read our minds and our mood as the invisible kitchen produced plate after plate of food so fine, so intelligent and so full of counter-intuitive flavours, so utterly surprising, that we gasped at every mouthful of every course.
Amuse bouche from the orient that segued into foie gras with blackcurrant ice cream, duck, bass, and thinly sliced carpaccio of sea bream, with melon sorbet, apple sherbet with ribs of suckling pig so delicate you could almost drink them.
And it kept on coming, on plates presented as artworks that always felt like the first bite of the evening. All accompanied by an astounding array of individual wines from Anjou and Bordeaux and ending in a triumphant pair of puddings that I can’t even begin to describe.
We cycled here from St Malo, (the bikes were stored safely in the cellars) so
it took a lot of effort to get here but it was worth every stroke of the pedal and every puff and pant of every hill.. And above all every single cent of the 140 euros that it cost for the two of us to experience one of the finest meals we have ever eaten.
Bravo!!

Just Lovely
Looked on line to find this beautiful Chateau de la Tremblaye , as we where wanting to visit Puy du fou , this chateau was perfect , only 20 minutes by car .
Back to the Chateau , We were lucky enough to be greeted by Alison who is English (but speaks french ) so no problems booking in lovely clean rooms with en suit bathroom , please remember your not booking into the local premier inn , This place was built in 1862 so is not modern in any way , bags of character which we love.
Evening meal was nice , not too expensive ,well plated , if you are a fussy eater then the Chateaus restaurant is not for you . Good breakfast selection . There is a lovely heated outdoor pool , sadly the weather was against us so we didn't get to go for a dip. I would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful Chateau. ;)
