Sweet Family vibe relaxation

The staff here are excellent. Family vibes. There’s beautiful greenery, and multiple spots to hang out. Spent a lot of time at the hostel.
Wish there were curtains on the beds, and toilet paper supplied, but they are an eco conscious hostel which I appreciate.
Get a motor bike as youre a bit further away, and careful on the dirt road to the hostel!
Be prepared for cold showers with unpleasant smelling water, and power outages.
Overall, would definitely recommend this very lovely place to anyone headed to siargao looking for a place to chill out for a while

We would not recommend this place!

Someone recommended this place to us, but we can't understand why anyone would. They don't have toilet paper here, you only get one towel for the entire week (unless you pay for more), the water from the showerhead is a tiny trickle and cold, you're crammed into a room with 18 people without any curtains (and now also without air conditioning), and when you need help, the staff isn't helpful at all. This hostel is supposed to be known for its social atmosphere, but when we look at other hostels, they seem much cozier than Hiraya. And in terms of price, it's not even that cheap. If this is your kind of thing, then go for it! But we definitely expected more

Wouldn’t recommend

18 bed dorms (not mentioned on booking.com). Ants and a cockroach found on my bed. Sinks in toilet area stink (no door into toilet/shower area), staff put incense twice a day to try cover smell. You have to walk 5/10 minutes from the main road avoiding potholes filled with puddles to get to the hostel. There is a large tree which hits against the dorms roof during rain or wind making a large bang which kept waking me up. Air conditioning is turned off in dorms between 12pm - 5pm. Hot water in dorms was shut off due to the significant rainfall while we were there (hostel runs off solar). You have to bring your own toilet paper.

What a lovely place!

Loved our stay at this hostel! Staff is very chill and friendly, makes you feel like home. They organize nice activities and it’s easy to meet new people there. Another big plus is the cafe in the hostel with very good and cheap food and drinks. Thanks Hiraya!! ❤️

Disappointing lack of response

This was booked for a week's stay following a recommendation from friends. Unfortunately, bad weather in Manila meant that flights were delayed and connecting flights missed and my son was unable to get there. He immediately emailed the hostel direct to let them know and cancelled the reservation made through booking.com. Despite multiple emails, no response or any sort of refund has ever been received. I can understand that the first night for a no show might be kept but not payment for the entire week. Very disappointing.
