STAY FAR AWAY!!!!
Buddy’s is a TERRIBLE JOKE OF A PLACE!
Horrible owner, FALSE ADVERTISING on his FB page, on his website, and even right to your face. He doesn't care one bit about his customers being happy.
No amenities are available at this so called “resort” (hillbilly heaven is more like it).
The ONLY food is pizza. There are NO boats, jet skis to rent, no paddle boards/kayaks/bikes to use.
The place is a huge downgrade compared to ANY other Ozarks location.
We were promised a refund, and now told that we would get none.
There is no doubt in my mind this place will be closed before the end of this year- so do yourself a HUGE favor and DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!

No amenities that are promised as in the kayaks, bike, canoes, they removed the grills now & cabins don’t have an oven
My family has been coming here every year for the past eight years, and until last night, we had never had a single issue with anyone. Despite the property becoming more run down under the new ownership and despite some less-than-friendly interactions we’ve seen with the new owners and other guest (not us) over the last couple of years, we always chose to show grace and continue coming back. We continued recommending Buddy’s Harbor to others, kept to ourselves, and simply enjoyed our family tradition.
This year, however, things seemed noticeably different. Many of the activities that were once offered were gone, no kayaks or canoes, no jet ski rentals, no bike or any other water activities and he had replaced the much larger trampoline with a small one that had a ratchet strap as a ladder and you couldn’t get on it. The food had all changed and was only pizza now and the grills had been removed but most cabins don’t have an oven so cooking was difficult. None of this was posted before hand or told to us. Every year they were so big about wristbands and we never received wristbands this year. Throughout the week, we also saw adults and children swimming in the pool well after dark every night. Naturally, even though the signs for wristbands and pool times are still up, we assumed the rules had changed along with everything else.
On our last night, my teenage children asked if they could go for a night swim after seeing others doing the same all week. I said yes, and my husband went with them.
About 30 minutes later, the owner came down to the pool and immediately began yelling. There was no polite request, no warning, and no opportunity for a simple conversation. He was aggressive from the start. My 15-year-old son was terrified.
My husband immediately apologized, explained that we genuinely believed the rules may have changed, and said they would get out of the pool right away. Instead of accepting the apology, the owner continued yelling and belittling him.
It didn’t stop there.
He followed my husband back to our spot, where my sister and I were sitting around the campfire making s’mores, and immediately began yelling at my sister as well.
Every one of us apologized repeatedly. We explained that it was an honest misunderstanding, accepted responsibility, and assured him it would never happen again. His response was that he didn’t care about our “pleasantries.”
I told him we were simply trying to make things right, that we’d been loyal guests for years, and that we never intended any harm. He looked me in the face and told me he didn’t care how long we’d been coming or about being kind to us.
I then calmly told him that, both personally and from a business standpoint, the way he was speaking to paying guests wasn’t okay. His response shocked me:
“I don’t care about my guests or my business.”
Sadly, that attitude has shown itself in other ways over the past couple of years, but I had never publicly complained because this campground has been a special family tradition for us. Last night, however, he made it abundantly clear that he truly doesn’t value either his business or the people who support it.
When I told him again that we were sorry and that we’d be checking out in the morning, he responded, “Good. You’re leaving tomorrow.”
He then stepped away as if he was finally leaving, but instead stopped, turned back around, and stood there silently watching our family for several minutes while we sat around our campfire. It was unsettling and honestly he was very intimidating the entire time.
I didn’t sleep at all that night. Not a single minute until we was packed and in the car. The entire encounter left me shaken. I’ve never had someone speak to my family and have complete disregard for another person in that way, and hearing afterward that he may not have been sober only made the situation even more concerning.
To top it all off, today I received an email informing us that our family is no longer welcome at Buddy’s Harbor.
We made one honest mistake based on what we believed had changed this year. The moment we realized we were in the wrong, we apologized, accepted responsibility, and corrected it immediately. In return, we were screamed at, humiliated in front of our children, followed back to our campsite, and ultimately banned.
I’m heartbroken—not only because we’ve lost a place that has been part of our family’s traditions for eight years, but because no guest deserves to be treated the way we were. Rules should absolutely be enforced, but they can be enforced with respect. There was no reason for the hostility, intimidation, or complete lack of professionalism we experienced.
I truly hope no other family has to experience what ours did.
