The room was clean. Old fashioned but nostalgic! The lake level is down, so the view at this time is not the greatest.
We enjoyed out stay here very much! There is a walkway on the outside of the room so you can sit and enjoy some outdoor desert air.

Beautiful views

Highly recommend. Room was located close to the lake. Beautiful view of sunrise and sunset. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Clean comfortable room with modern amenities making our stay enjoyable. Will definately stay here again.

Dam Site Campground

The campground is fairly small and the nightly rate is a little higher than some others, but the history, scenery, and secluded feel made it worthwhile for us.
We first stayed here the weekend it closed for major repairs in 2024 and returned after it reopened in 2026. It was nice to see the improvements already underway, and they’re still updating the park. The park can accommodate larger RV’s but if narrow winding roads make you uncomfortable then maybe rethink it.
The campsites are gravel with full hookups. Not a lot of shade but that’s expected in the desert area. Cabins are also available. The lake was very low during our visit, but the views and quiet setting were still excellent.
If you’re looking for a luxury RV resort with pools and activities, this probably isn’t the place for you. But if you want a secluded campground with history, beautiful scenery, and a peaceful atmosphere, Dam Site Campground is worth a visit.

Dam nice place

I would return to this spot and spend more time exploring and time on the lake. The lodging/casita was cherry, clean, well maintained and not your standard motel decor. Supplies are basic plan to be self contained with your picnic basket supplies. Campground host was very welcoming and helpful getting myself settled in. Quiet and nice view.

Hidden Gem Cabins by Elephant Butte Lake

We stayed at the Historic Dam Site Cabins and had an amazing experience. The view of Elephant Butte Lake is absolutely beautiful and made our stay feel extra special.
The cabins have been remodeled and are so cute, clean, and comfortable.
What really made this place stand out was Will. He was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You can tell he genuinely cares about the guests, and that made a huge difference for us.
We will definitely be coming back and staying longer next time. Highly recommend!
