Charming Getaway worth every penny!
What a gem!! My husband and I just left and I already want to go back. The room was clean and comfortable, the view was breathtaking, and I absolutely adored all the little amenities. A firepit with s’mores, free bike rentals, and a cute little gift shop all added to the charm.
It’s close to downtown, but far enough away that you can enjoy the lake in a more peaceful environment. It was perfect.
I also want to give a shout out the staff, all of whom were sooo friendly. Ethan in particular was one of the best hotel staff I’ve ever met. He answered all my questions, helped me pick the best room for my budget, and was so patient and insightful both over the phone and in person.
The location, staff, and amenities really makes Beacon Point a charming getaway!

Disappointing
We travel a lot and don't generally do reviews, but feel we should share our experience versus the impression we got from the website.
We had high hopes for Beacon Pointe when we cancelled our Marriott reservation to try them out. Reviews were good and the pictures provided prompted us to try something new. We booked a balcony room overlooking the water, and asked for a top floor unit. The agent we worked with at the property was great in trying to get us what we wanted. The location was also good being just a few miles up the North Shore from Duluth where my family was staying at the Hampton Inn Canal Park. Underground parking was convenient (part of the daily "resort fee"), and it was easy to reach our room from there. The staff at the front desk was friendly and quickly got us checked in. The disappointment started as soon as we got to our room. While the bedroom was fine with its mini-kitchen, the bathroom was another story. We discovered we had been given an ADA unit which meant there was a small vanity to accommodate wheel chair access, grab bars everywhere, and a chair in the shower. For a disabled person, it was a great setup, but when shopping for rooms, we do not choose ADA units. We didn't have a choice in this instance. The second disappointment came when we went to check out the balcony which was a nice size with a glass panel railing. The problem was that the balcony for the next-door unit was attached to ours with only a wooden louvered panel between them. The guests sitting out there were literally 3 feet away and it was impossible not to hear their conversation. The gaps in the louvers were so wide that they afforded no privacy. We had booked at BP in large part because the balconies and view looked great. This situation meant we essentially had to take turns using our balconies. We also discovered that we were not on the top floor as we had been told because they had penthouse units above us. So, we heard the guests walking back and forth and sliding their patio chairs around. Unfortunately, there were no other rooms to move to.
The next disappointment came when we went to breakfast the next day. Everything was pre-packaged, no fresh fruit and limited to cold items. In contrast, we found out that my family staying at the Hampton had a rotating hot buffet each day. At our inn, there was really no place to sit inside so we'd have to take our food back to our rooms or sit somewhere outside where seating was limited. We did not eat at the inn any of the 3 mornings we were there. The other thing to be aware of is that there is no housekeeping provided unless you call and ask for it. That includes getting your trash emptied, additional linens, etc. And when they came the second day, they didn't wash any of the dishes we used which come with the unit.
Finally, the resort fee. This was in the end, what looked like condo units on a very small property, typical indoor pool and exercise room, and a cold, pre-package breakfast. While the room was clean and had a water view, it hardly justified paying a resort fee. In the end, we were paying for parking. Would we go back? Probably not. Given the amenities we saw at the Hampton Inn, the great breakfast, location right on the canal walk overlooking the lake, across the street from the shops, restaurants and lift bridge, it represents a better value. The best part of our BP stay was the staff who tried to find us a different room and in the end, offered a small adjustment to our bill.

Beacon Pointe is the best
Best location to stay in Duluth! Staff is friendly and rooms are clean. Lots of fun activities to do on-site and in surrounding area.

Pure bliss
The condo was amazing, roomy with a full kitchen and quality appliances. Big bathroom with very soft towels. Very clean. The fresh popcorn down in the lobby every evening added to the fun.
