Trailered motorcycle up to tour & see the October foliage

Review, Rodeway Inn, Bellows Falls, VT.
While, en route, my wife called to say the Rodeway had gotten unhappy reviews, especially that the rooms were dirty. Turned out, my room was immaculate, the staff was friendly and the bed was fine. The price was reasonable too. OK, it’s nothing fancy, but then neither am I. Just looking for something decent and affordable. And finding it.
You’re well situated for seeing the scenery, near route 91, right on scenic route 5 that runs along the Connecticut River, not too far from Brattleboro which is packed with shops and upscale places to eat. One small complaint: maybe the outdoor security lights could be turned off after midnight so the rooms could be darker for sleeping.

Best Customer Service from a motel

This weekend I attended a wedding and the morning of received a phone call that my reservation at Another hotel had been cancelled. The only lodging within 30 minutes was the Rodeway Inn. My expectations were pretty low going in as long as I had a bed and no bugs I was going to be content. We called to let them know we were going to be late and were told no problem. Arrived at the inn around 1030 pm. At this point we were just hoping there was still going to be a room. We were greeted by Gary the owner promptly. He got us checked in quickly, made conversation and overheard me mention to my wife that we should have stopped for water so he gratuitously offered us a couple bottles. He insisted on walking us to the room to make sure it was up to standards. After checking in the last guest of the night he walked back by and chatted for a few minutes while we were outside the room. I don’t often write reviews but I was compelled to based on the fantastic customer experience we received. I would recommend anyone in the area looking for a place to crash for the evening give The Rodeway Inn a try.

Quiet rooms, pleasant stay

Stayed here for work travel. Room was clean and comfortable - owners very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast provided in lobby. Rooms are away from the road so noise is minimal. Basic accomodations suitable for my purpose.

Only if Desperate

Normally, we would not consider Rodeway Inn, but we were desperate and it was getting late. We were told it was the only hotel with rooms through our membership with Choice. Luckily we have a GPS in our car or we would have never found it because the sign wasn't working and the area was very dark. Hard to tell where the front office was. When I found it, the lady behind the desk handed me another person's reservation and asked if that was me. It wasn't and she said it was the only one she had but had rooms...that was obvious, think there was on two cars in the lot that looked like a place where 18 wheelers pull off and park for the night. She said she'd give us a room for $99. I told her we had reservations for $71. She asked, "Bookings.com?" I told her no and she said there was no way she could give me a room for that cheap. I asked to see the room. I have problems with my legs and had to step up around ten inches to get in. Room had a cold feel with zero character. Floor was very uneven. Bedspreads were of the cheapest polyester variety and there was no place to put our luggage, but like I said, we were desperate and told her we'd take it at $71 as booked. She told me she would just cancel and not wanting to get stuck with a $71 charge through our reservation, my wife called and they were able to straighten it out. Lady caught hell from her husband about letting us have it for that price. TV did not have any of the normal channels, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, etc., only the channels that only very bored people watch that the company throws in as extras. Said it was non-smoking, but from the smell, obviously the policy wasn't enforced. Miserable night due to the mattress pad being plastic lined that kept wading up in spots. Got up to check and noticed it looked, very dingy and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. Got maybe three hours sleep. Breakfast...if you can call it that was some cheap juice, bread, waffle and something that said coffee. With no places nearby, we drove at least thirty miles before we found a place to eat. Longest night ever!!! Like I said, "Stay here only if you are very desperate!" Choice needs to take hotels like this off their list as it gives their company a bad name.

Dirty

We were going over to VT to purchase a car and thought it would be nice to make it a weekend of it. My husband has been very ill and needed to get out of the house for a couple days. I made the reservation through priceline and it said 2 rooms left, as many of the properties were full due to ski season. So I jumped on it and booked it. The rate was $77.00 a night, we were traveling on a budget so the price was right. The motel is sketchy looking, no lights on in the lobby. I should have left then. You feel like your in a gas station with a glass partition between us. Checked in, went to the room. it was ok at first look. The bed is an old mattress with springs that squeeked every time you moved. Next day I brought towels to the office as they looked dirty. They gave us new one, which wearn't much better. All the mirrors were dirty, chairs were stained, bed comforter was blood stained on it, microwave was dirty, sink leaked all over the floor, it was just gross. Upon check out I showed the owner who checked us in the photos. He was less than concerned, he said oh you should have come and I could have her come clean for you. NO it should have been cleaned before I got there. Never again !!!
