2nd visit - still amazing!
2nd visit to this hotel (we visited last year) and decided to come back as we loved it. I heard that you can get an upgrade to Royal Elite if you come back but only learned this on the last day of our holiday so that was a little disappointing that we were never told this. However, still had a great time! We had a pool & sea view from our room (Block G) and it was stunning. Last year we had a ground floor room right on the beach which was magnificent so I thought facing the pool would be so loud - it wasn't! The balcony doors and like tipple glazing and can't hear a thing at night. Room was kept clean, housekeeping visited everyday and my fiance was given a bottle of Cava and a little note on his Birthday which was so nice and unexpected. I didn't even inform the hotel beforehand so they must have kept note from last year which is a nice touch. We had an issue with the safe on the first day which was sorted within a few hours. €30 deposit is returned at the end of your stay for the use of the safe.
I really don't understand the reviews about the entertainment staff only being interested in "young attractive girls" this sounds wrong and we never seen this happen once! They work very hard to keep everyone happy, including the kids. The main guy (I assume he's the manager but not sure) he was here last year also and does a fabulous job of getting everyone going during the daytime activities and night. He deserves a raise!! (SEVVVEEENNNN)
The night time entertainment acts are good but a little more variety would be good, we saw 4 singers I think which were good fun but something a bit different would be nice.
The food is lovely and plentiful. There was only one dinner where I didn't eat much but not a problem as there's snacks later. The pizza and chips are delicious BTW! There's a carvery section with fresh grilled meats which was my favourite. I'm not a massive fan of pasta but the Italian show cooking section was also delicious and filling. Everything is fresh, seasoned well and never had an issue with of the food. The restaraunt can get a bit chaotic at times but that's because guests don't use the door system properly and hold things up.
The pool bar can get busy at night during the entertainment but the queue clears quickly. After 11pm you can help yourself to beer and wines. The beer is really nice, especially with a little splash of the cloudy lemonade.
There is absolutely no need to put your towel down at 6.30am at the pools. There are 3 pools to choose from, plenty of space and sunbeds for everyone. Yes there were guests who put their towels down at stupid o'clock in the morning but it's fine. We always found a sunbed, even if we came down later in the morning. You might not get a parasol but you will have somewhere to relax. The adult pool is nice & chill, with a jacuzzi. The main pool where the entertainment team host aqua gym (highly recommend) etc is busier, with the kids pool next to it. The other larger pool is probably the busiest with floats, kids, balls etc. All pools are great it just depends what vibe you are after. Music is played at both the larger pools but adult only area has no music and you can barely hear it from the busier sections. The acoustics are honestly amazing in this hotel, not sure how they've done that but it's great.
The hotel is SPOTLESS. The cleaning staff work really hard to keep every single part of the hotel clean. I've got a weird fear of public bathrooms but no need to worry at this hotel. There was a blocked bathroom at one point in the main lobby but it was fixed pretty quickly.
There are cats on the grounds which are cared for by the hotel. They have little boxes where their food is kept. They mostly hang out by the beach and don't bother anyone. There is a black cat that patrols the adult pool maybe twice in the morning and that's it. They are beautiful and don't cause anyone any harm. Cats keep rodents away from hotels and are cute so we have no issue with them.
We will definitely return with family in the future and have recommended to family & friends. The whole team do a great job and anyone who says otherwise is a bit of a snob in my opinion.

Fantastic holiday
We stayed for 11 nights from 22nd August. Check in was quick and simple. The bedroom was very clean and had a lovely seaview, also overlooking one of the swimming pools. Housekeeping came everyday and did an excellent job. Food was very good, I’m a fussy eater but managed to find something to eat every lunchtime and evening. It could do with a more kids friendly buffet, as my 7 year old is also a very fussy eater and for the amount of children staying at the hotel, I would of expected a kids buffet section. My wife has a dairy intolerance and although she was shown round the first morning, she felt that nothing was clearly labelled with allergens and didn’t want to bother the staff every meal time, so she just ate sensibly. The all inclusive drinks were good quality. The entertainment team were fantastic, encouraging children and adults to do activities but never forcing anyone, Zak, Remi, Narain and the outstanding Marko, he definitely made my sons holiday extra special. A big thank you to each and everyone of you, but especially Marko. There is a market every Wednesday and Saturday in the marina, about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. They have water stations in the bars, but no bottled water, (except for a 1 litre bottle in your bedroom upon your arrival, but is never replenished) only paper cups, so a good suggestion is to bring your own drinking cups.
Overall an excellent holiday and we would definitely return and recommend this hotel.

Family of 4 had the best time
We’ve just returned from our first 11-night stay at Sandos Papagayo, and I wanted to write a little review for anyone thinking of going or preparing for their first visit.
We’re a family of four with two children (8 & 6), and we had an absolutely fantastic time! ❤️
The Staff
Every single member of staff was lovely, friendly, and helpful. The animation team were absolutely top-notch! They really took the time to get to know our kids and made such a fuss of them throughout the holiday. They were also so sweet when we left. Huge shout-out to Odanis, Christian, and Zak
Scuba Diving
My husband went scuba diving twice with the dive school attached to the hotel and couldn’t speak highly enough of Jorge. An absolute legend and a genuinely lovely guy. Highly recommended! ⭐
Rooms
The rooms were great and cleaned every day. No complaints at all.
♀️ Spa
A special mention for the spa! I treated myself to an Anti-Stress Massage with the lovely Anna, and it was honestly one of the highlights of the trip. ✨
Royal Elite (RE)
We didn’t go RE and honestly didn’t feel the need to. For us, travelling with children, we didn’t see any major benefits.
️ Food
The food was exactly what you’d expect from an all-inclusive resort. There was plenty of choice, it was perfectly good, and everyone in our family found something they enjoyed. The desserts were especially lovely!
Fusion Restaurant
We tried the Asian night at Fusion, but I think we were either unlucky with our timing (8pm) or it was just an off night. We found some of the food quite dry, so in the end we were perfectly happy sticking with the International Restaurant.
⚓ Marina
Please don't make the same mistake I did and leave visiting the marina until your last few days! We absolutely loved it and wished we'd spent more time there. It's small but beautiful, with some fabulous restaurants and lovely little shops. When we come back, we'll definitely spend much more time there. ❤️
️ Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca is a great little town with shops galore. As someone who absolutely loves a bit of holiday tat, I was in my element!
That said, I didn't really enjoy the restaurants along the seafront in the evenings. They felt a bit too "strip-like" for me. Personally, I preferred the quieter, more traditional Canarian feel of the marina. But everyone likes different things!
Getting Around
Use the buses whenever you can! They're incredibly easy to use, get you to loads of places, and cost next to nothing.
️ Weather
Remember, Lanzarote is an island in the Atlantic. While it doesn't rain much, you will get the occasional cloudy day, that's just part of island life! The good news is it's still warm enough during the day.
We used the cloudier days to visit the submarine experience and Texas Ranchero Water Park, both of which I'd highly recommend for families.
Pools & Activities
We travelled during half-term, and the activities for the kids were brilliant.
Get involved with your kids at the mini disco and learn the Jerusalema dance. Trust me, it's worth it for the memories alone!
And yes... the pools are absolutely Baltic!
Your kids won't want to get out even when their lips have turned blue, but somehow they warm up quickly enough and dive straight back in!
Loads to do! Archery , rifle shooting , crazy games , bingo , water polo ♂️... if it was happening, we were probably there! I genuinely think that's why we had such a laugh and met so many wonderful people.
Evening Entertainment
The evening entertainment was exactly what you'd expect, lots of Whitney Houston songs , acrobats balancing on chairs , and a variety of different acts. It was always a fun way to end the day.

If you're heading there soon, have the most amazing time! We genuinely had a fantastic holiday and made some wonderful memories.

Cleanliness/hygiene
Cleanliness is poor around the pools. Sun-beds are not moved to clean under. One toilet for everyone to use near snack bar is a health hazard, faeces in floor.
Courtesy room is not serviced between users. We had to clean floors with discarded towels , empty over flowing bin whilst waiting 30 mins for towels to be provided.

Ok for a short break
Overall we had a lovely time, hotel is lovely but very big!
I'm not a pickie eater but didn't find the food great, was just ok, breakfast was not great so just ate toast. Lunch and dinner were ok, pool snack bar could've been better.
I'd take plastic beer glasses with you as beer/drinks in paper cups not great.
Room was very clean and bed very comfy but beware if overlooking a pool, you'll be awake early.
People were reserving sunbeds very early to, I thought they didn't allow that but noone did anything about it.
Views amazing but we felt to far away from Playa blanca. We were only there for 5 days so overal not to bad but any longer and I think we would've been bored with location and food.
