Was always only one person at the desk ever.
This made it difficult if you had any issues or enquiries. All the staff I spoke with were however very friendly and easy to talk to. I thank them for the kindness being so busy.
The rooms were good, good air conditioning and location for the quiet beach is perfect.
The city is a nice walk away, along the beach or through the roads. So you can choose each time what suits your mood.
Laundry, luggage storage available also.
My only suggestion is to get more fridges as there was only 1 for a massive hostel.
There are however loads of places nearby to get food so wasn’t too big of an issue.

Experience Hostel United
My experience at Hostel United Barcelona was well below expectations. Although there were some positive points, the negative aspects had much more impact.
When we entered the room, the floor had sand left by previous guests, there was a lot of dust, the bed was to be made and the pillows were unflatched. In addition, the air conditioning piped water during the stay. The room presented an untreated appearance, with areas of the ceiling and walls in apparent concrete and other areas with the peeled coating.
In the bathroom there were no face towels or tapestry from the bath. In contrast, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and body lotion were available.
There were also garbage bags left in the hallway, which conveyed a careless image of the hostel.
The check-in was very time-consuming as there were many guests and only one employee to attend.
I asked the employee to clean the room because of the conditions in which it was. Although we accepted the request, when we returned the room remained exactly in the same state. When I complained about the situation, I felt that my concerns were devalued and there was no serious attempt to resolve the problems.
As a positive point, the kitchen is very well equipped and works in "do it yourself" system, being quite practical.
We paid about 240€ for four people. For the amount paid, I expected much better conditions of cleaning, maintenance and care. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations and would not again choose this accommodation.

Refused check-in, false claims, and zero accountability
I arrived at approximately 00:10 with a confirmed booking only to be told my name was not in their system and the reservation was registered under a completely different person's name. They refused to check me in and claimed they don't even recognize the platform (Agoda) I booked through leaving me stranded in Barcelona at midnight with nowhere to go.
It gets worse. When I disputed this with my booking platform, they confirmed that there was a misinformation at Unite Hostel's side, but it was already too late and I had to contact someone from Barcelona to host me. Additionally, the hostel falsely claimed I had checked in and used a specific bed number. I personally returned the same day in the evening and spoke with a staff member who verbally confirmed I was never checked in (They were nice to me, I left my email and my contact number, but until this day 04 September 2026, they have never reached out). I sent a formal written incident report to the hostel requesting written confirmation of this, but I never received any response.
Based solely on the hostel's false information, my refund was still under investigation from Agoda. I have extensive evidence including timestamped messages, navigation records and photographs proving I was not at this property that night.
Avoid this hostel. They will leave you stranded at midnight, provide false information to protect themselves, and completely ignore your emails. Future guests deserve to know the truth!

Venue is OK.
Some of the crew are not very nice.
During a night, one of them is entered in our room at 3am, switch on the light, no explanation, no excuses. When we asked what's going on, he was so rude.

We stayed at this hotel as a family of four and overall it was a good choice for a short sightseeing trip. The location is very good, with easy access to the main attractions. The reception staff were helpful and friendly, which we really appreciated.
However, the room was missing some basic furniture, such as a chair and a small table, which would have made the stay more comfortable, especially for a family.
Despite this, the hotel is a good option for a family of four looking for a convenient place to stay while exploring the city.
