We've used Scandic Aarhus V for probably 30 years but this could be the last time ....
Original review a la:- Convenient location for visiting our friends with parking. Breakfast has gone downhill: fruit 'juices' are not real juice, just from weak concentrate (clear water comes out first so you can see its a dilution): why is bacon chopped up into minuscule pieces? Is this Scandic policy or just a local decision - I've not been to the polar regions but I've never seen this done anywhere else in the fifty plus countries visited on the other continents! The receptionist didn't know why it was done as it wasn't a known customer request: Saturday morning the scrambled egg ran out, no knives initially, milk ran out (near the coffee machine) the (poor) bacon was almost out and the bits there were deep in fat - staff shortages? Poor planning? Poor organisation?: I had to clear the 'vacant' table after the previous users, get a serviette and a glass of water to clean the table, basically a shambles.: Sunday, after breakfast, the restaurant/bar is closed all day, you can't go out for a drink as you can't drink and drive - there is a vending machine but that is not an excuse for a bar. I doubt anyone from Scandic V will read this or reply but, we usually travel to Aarhus annually, use Scandic V for many years, it is convenient for our friends but we will probably look elsewhere next visit. We also know a Dane who has used the hotel for years and he now goes elsewhere so it's not only us! This preceding is on our customer survey too with other issues ..... On checking-out, these issues were raised but the guy on reception told me the customer is not always right - never mind, I don't have to be a customer, that's my option.

We completely understand your frustration and are sorry that the breakfast experience was disappointing. The chopped bacon is unfortunately part of the breakfast concept across Scandic hotels in Denmark, and we were also unfortunately understaffed on Saturday morning, which affected replenishment and table clearing. While this is not an excuse, it does explain some of the issues you experienced.

Poor facility maintenance - very nice and friendly personnel
But the hotel in itself does not look fresh. The facilities looks old and not well maintained. Not the standard I was expecting from a Scandic facility. The room smelled like suege when I entered. No air conditioning, no good air. In general not well kept: holes on walls, misplaced lists etc. The room was although clean, so no issues in that sense - but the environment overall did not look fresh. I will not book the hotel again.

Incredibly worn-out room
The floor is incredibly worn
Toilet paper holder is falling down
There is mould/scam around the edge in the shower cabin
A large crack in the ceiling just got a proper strip polyfylla
However, the winners are new - this is clearly seen on the large marks that the stickers have left in the middle of the glasses
The foot panels just stand and lean off the wall (they overrun if you push them)
TV and bed was perfectly fine

Practice
Unfortunately this time was an exception.
The room was cleaned up to 4 people even though I was only 1. It took a lot of space in the room.
The dinner was miserable. Ordered salmon, it tasted like it had been a walk in the “golden well” it was dry boring and tasted branched oil. All edges were dry and hard.
The potatoes were perfectly cooked and asparagus as well.

Cheap access to Aarhus
The price is ok and “justifies” the obvious shortcomings.
