Clean with Friendly owner

We booked this online and didn't realize it was halfway between the Dubrovnik old town and the Port Cruz. It was a stiff climb to the apartment from either direction and the lack of footpaths made it somewhat risky.
Accommodation consisted of a single room dominated by the large double bed. The wardrobe and cupboards were tired and slightly shoddy. There was a fridge with a kettle some tea bags and sugar and a knife and spoon. The air conditioning unit worked fairly well but was noisy if required when asleep. The fridge was very noisy and once it started to cool it took over 40 minutes before it stopped waking me several times throughout the nights The ensuite was very small with a cabinet over the sink which made washing difficult. The shower was good and there was plenty of hot water. A bottle of hand soap was the only toiletry supplied. We had 2 large and 2 small towel's changed on the 2nd day along with the bed linen. The room was clean but cramped. The small table and chairs were of little use and only seemed to make the room even more crowded.
There was an outside terrace which looked pleasant but we only used it to access the clothes line to dry our beach gear.
The proprietor who met us on our arrival spoke almost no English but appeared very friendly and tried to offer us some pointers to help enjoy our stay.
Value for money for this property was fair but if we had seen better reviews or pictures we would have stayed elsewhere.
This is a budget room for someone trying to save money.
