Solid Stay

I’d actually give this 3.5 /5 if it were an option.
We had a 3 night stay on the back of 2 nights in Tashkurgan and over 5 weeks in Pakistan so the Nuerlan ticked most of the boxes.
The decor is over the top glitzy, sparkles, marble, highly decorated everything- fascinating. Check in was easy, prebooked on booking dot com. Cash only. One lady spoke great English, all others didn’t but we used a translator app with good success. Level of friendliness improved over the stay.
We had a standard room in the 4th floor - 8402. The room is supposedly non smoking (ashtray provided), the floor is smoking. The room smelt good so we didn’t move to a non smoking floor.
Wifi excellent. Very big room.
Sheets pristine and fresh, pillows pristine and fresh. Bed comfy (firm). Doona perfect, clean and white and crisp. Carpet could do with a vacuum. Aircon v efficient.
Bathroom decent size. Hairdryer, mirror, good lighting, no plumbing issues. Hot water! Hooray! It was consistent through stay although shower leaked all over floor. Towels were good, off white but big and absorbent. Provided in room- toiletries, tea, kettle, tv (2 English language Channels), extra full length mirror, scales, tons of cupboards. Lots of light.
Food- breakfast included. Chinese buffet as stated previously. It was fine - expected that style of food so it wasn’t a surprise. The omelettes, stir fried greens and watermelon were my favourite things. If you need western, the plain bread dumpling things and boiled eggs are as close as you’ll get. Like others I wanted coffee but it was not available at all (i took my own instant coffee and powdered milk just in case).
Location was perfect. So much to see within 5 minutes including a below ground supermarket. Easy to flag down cabs.
I’d recommend the hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Good value st AUD 80/n.

Dank rooms with a good location

The location was really good, very near to the night markets and is opposite the Id Kah mosque. However, after taking a good long look at the decor of the hotel, you could see that it was overcompensating for other parts of the hotel that are in disrepair. The lifts take forever to arrive and at the lift landing the ceiling has collapsed and was haphazardly covered with a sheet with water dripping into buckets.
The rooms were okay, but the carpets felt a little dank that i was afraid to walk on it barefooted.The smell also reminds me of wet mop that hasn't seen sunlight in a long time. You can also catch the sunrise through the dirty windows.
At breakfast, the dining room was beautiful but with really limited seats. If you're unfortunate enough to share your stay duration with the local tourists, you probably wont be able to get any seats nor tables and sometimes the food has already been swept up by the others so you kind of just stand there awkwardly waiting for the food to be topped up and also for seats to be available.

Great location but a bit dated and dark.

The location is fantastic as it's right in the centre of the two sections of the old town, 5 mins walk to the night food market street.
We arrived at 5, check in was from 2 onwards but we still had to wait as our room wasn't ready.
The hotel itself is very dated and dark. Their appeared to be a problem with some of the air con in the halls as their were collapsed ceiling times and water pouring into buckets.
The bed was comfortable though and the shower was great!
For western tourists you are limited to where you can stay so this was actually alright comfort and value considering.
