Charming lodge with only a short trip to the slopes

We booked a room at this lovely little lodge for one night at the end of our South American trip. We had few days free in Santiago and decided to spend a couple of days snowboarding in El Colorado. We chose to stay in Farellones as it was a lot cheaper than any accommodation we could find in El Colorado. The lodge was very charming and we were really happy with our accommodation choice. Loved that both dinner and breakfast were included in the room rate. The food was really good and the chef even prepared a gluten free meal for me at short notice.
Although our Spanish was very limited we managed to communicate well with the use Google Translator. The staff were very welcoming and lovely - it felt like we were staying with relatives as it had such a relaxing and homely feel. Highly recommended :)

Great Staff but Other Issues

The staff at Lodge Andes were very sweet and helpful, but they spoke almost no English, so if you don't speak Spanish, communication is a really difficult. I was frustrated that I paid in cash up front, then when my plans changed and I gave notice that I was leaving a day early, the owner would not okay a refund. I was also frustrated that I booked a female only dorm room for 6 and it was actually an 8 bed co-ed room. The room was so tiny with 8 beds crammed in that we were practically on top of each other. Another woman in the room had also booked a female only, 6 bed room. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again although the 2 people on staff were really sweet and helpful. They were the only positive thing about this hostel even given the communication problem.

Comfortable Hostel

Lodge Andes is great spot if you are on a budget. When i was there I was charged 37,000 Pesos. This included a light breakfast and a nice large dinner after day on the slopes. They also have afternoon tea and coffee in the afternoon.
The staff was very helpful. They even had gear for me to rent while I was there! Not the best gear but good enough for my time there.
The hostel is located 100 meters down the hill from Farellones. You can walk to Farellones and take the rope lifts to Colorado or take a bus to Colorado or the other resorts. The staff is very helpful in assisting with getting rides.
If you can recommend the dorm room upstairs. The room has it's own en suite bathroom. The rooms downstairs are don't have en suites and look a little older. Otherwise great place to unwind after a day on the slopes. The fireplace and the dinner really make one feel at home.
Pay online before otherwise they charge a 5% credit card fee.

wor the stay!

I would definitely recommend staying at this lovely hostel in Farrelones. The view is amazing, it's right in the snowy mountains, and the staff are lovely and helpful.
If you haven't booked transfers to/from El Colorado, Valle Nevada or Santiago, it's super easy just to do it once there; you just tell them the day before or in the morning of the day you want to go, and the staff ring and organise one for you.
Cost of transfer to/from El Colorado for 2 ppl was 14,000 argentine peso. Cost of transfer to/from Valle Nevada was 24,000 peso.
Try to purchase ski passes and gear rental online before arriving, as it's much cheaper than purchasing at the ski slope.
Worth the stay at this hostel!

Best deal in town

Farellones is an expensive place to stay and this is the best deal I found. Very friendly staff and accommodating chef- I have a gluten allergy and he made me modified meals which were delicious. We stayed in a small room with a double bed which was cozy and comfortable. Bathrooms were not impeccable but pretty clean. Pretty easy walk to the t-bar lift at Farellones that takes you to el Colorado.
