Awesome place in Castlegar! Great room with pool view! Queen Beds are comfortable and great with a fridge in the room and lots of ice on the second floor. The breakfast bar with waffles and eggs, cereals, fruit and good coffee.
The slide, what a great slide . We stayed here for a golf tournament, what a blast! Even the 70 year old guest joined in. There is a decent restaurant (Mr Mikes) and a beer, wine and Liquor store attached to the restaurant to the hotel. A Starbucks, and Safeway in the adjacent mall. Could not have asked for anything more, Friendly staff, clean decent rooms and close to everything!

Disappointing Stay With Multiple Maintenance and Safety Issues
Unfortunately, our stay at the Super 8 in Castlegar was very disappointing and fell well below what I would expect from a hotel.
From the moment we checked in, the experience wasn’t particularly welcoming. The front desk staff member essentially handed me the room key without explaining breakfast hours, hotel amenities, or providing any other information about our stay.
When we got to our room, there was an extremely unpleasant odour. There was also a strong air freshener in the hallway, which seemed to be attempting to mask a similar smell.
The condition of the room was my biggest concern. The carpet was uneven and had a significant lump in the middle of the floor. I actually tripped over it during the night. I am currently recovering from ACL surgery, so this was more than an inconvenience—it was a genuine safety concern and could have caused a significant setback in my recovery.
There were numerous maintenance problems as well. The refrigerator didn’t work, the bathtub faucet dripped throughout the night, and the television had substantial internal damage/cracking to the screen, making it nearly impossible to watch.
I also developed a mysterious rash on my face after spending the night there. I can’t say what caused it or whether it was related to the hotel, but given my concerns about the room, it certainly didn’t make me feel any more comfortable about the stay.
Parking was chaotic, with vehicles seemingly everywhere and very little convenient space to unload our belongings. With my limited mobility following knee surgery, getting our things into the hotel was unnecessarily difficult.
I did appreciate receiving an email that allowed for pre-check-in, as that was convenient. However, I was surprised to see a charge without a clear explanation of what I was being billed for. The additional $100 incidental hold was not clearly communicated to me beforehand. Greater transparency during the pre-check-in process would have been appreciated.
I reported the room issues to the front desk. Although the staff member apologized, nothing was resolved and no room change, compensation, or other meaningful solution was offered. With this many problems—including an actual tripping hazard—I felt an apology alone was inadequate.
On a positive note, the internet worked well, and I do want to acknowledge that.
Overall, the room did not feel clean, comfortable, safe, or properly maintained. For the amount paid, I expected considerably better. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not choose to stay at this location again.

Great stay for families. Pool was nice, very shallow which was good for young children. Room was clean. Breakfast was good.

Our family didn’t want to leave. Got a themed room with bunk beds. It was 3 bunk beds that were full to queen size each with plenty of space between. Our own private door to the pool with a slide. Lobby was fancy, breakfast good.

Just What We Needed
Our stay was just what we needed and looking forward to. Everything from accommodating and welcoming staff to breakfast included was great. Highly recommend especially for a brief stay or when passing through town.
