Good stay - some things improvable

Some things worked really well concerning this hotel.
The shuttle service from the airport worked perfectly. I was welcomed very warmly.
The rooms are clean, nice, with great air-condition.
Beds are big and soft.
People working at the hotel are friendly and try a lot so you are content with your stay.
Unfortunately when I needed to get back to the airport to catch a flight, the transfer didn't work - which resulted in quite some waiting time which left me a nervous wrack that I would miss my flight.
The hotel advertises a pool - however, there isn't one, just an inflatable, shallow one for children.
The place could be beautiful as it is situated directly at the river, unfortunately the river bank is full of rubbish that nobody cleans away.

Quiet spot on the river

A comfortable retreat well away from the busyness of Douala. We used the pool and enjoyed the offerings at the riverside restaurant. No wifi in our room facing the riding ring across the road or at the restaurant. Staff was courteous but not exceptionally friendly. Bilingual and room service available. Pleasant grounds with playground and picnic areas. The local community has terrible roads, possible flooding in the rainy season. It was relaxing sitting by the river and close enough to the airport to make it work for us.

Great Douala oasis

Nice place to relax before or after traveling. Friendly staff, everything works. The riverside location with breeze makes Douala climate easier to take. Rooms are clean, good mattress, warm shower with good water pressure. AC works- power backup by generator. Wifi in some areas (lobby worked for us). The food was very good at the restaurant. Continental breakfast was included, can be upgraded. There are clean bathrooms everywhere on the property. There are spaces for large groups- open terrace for up to 300. Conference room and indoor restaurant. Plus large restaurant terrace.
A large play area for children and a pool. The pool was pleasant and realaxing t in the morning.
Quick connection to airport and pick-up/ drop-off is offered. No worries- you only occasionally hear sounds of airplanes.
Unfortunately, the surrounding village doesn't have much to offer and the road is unpleasant to walk (or drive).
I can very well imagine having a small conference or meeting at this facility- the quiet surrounding would support good focus and few distractions.

Not impressed

Like other reviewers, we stayed here on three occasions in the course of touring around Cameroon; it is used by the local tour agency Cameroun Horizon. We were much less impressed than other reviewers seem to have been. The hotel is located quite close to the airport, but far outside the main part of Douala so is useless as a base for exploring the city. None of the Douala taxi drivers that anyone in our tour-group used had heard of the hotel, or even the district (the shanty-town of Youpwe) where it is located, which made getting there very problematic. The hotel felt desultory rather than tranquil, and seemed to be run primarily for the benefit of the owners, whose noisy children were allowed to run riot in the corridor. A main problem was the water supply, which was off more often than it was on, and on several occasions stopped suddenly in the middle of taking a shower; not sure how far this is a city-wide problem, but it certainly marred our experience of the hotel. The restaurant, while attractively located by the waterfront, was pricey and the set meal offered very limited options; we also came across one instance of deliberate over-charging.
