Next best restaurant was pepes pasta,Swiss owned, opposite closed apex hotel, also several minimarts near, tuktuk cruising in street, I went to a very nice laguna for swimming in the jungle, 10km away, known as small waterfall, but I saw only a nice quiet place for swimming, 10 dollars for 3 hours for tuktuk, beer available

OK budget guesthouse - elevated by very good desk staff
The rooms have very good fan and air-con units: effective, quiet, very modern - the wall-fan even has a remote control (which I've never seen anywhere else in Cambodia before). The wi-fi also works very well. However, the TVs are very small, and the cable package (Thai, I assume) is pretty poor; many channels are blank, or tuned in too poorly to use; there's not that much in English.
There's a communal balcony on each floor - but they don't have much of a view of anything, unfortunately; and are mainly used as smoking areas.
There are well-stocked fridges in the lobby (some yoghurt, biscuits, chocolate, as well as beer, water, and soft drinks), with very cheap prices. This is an essential facility, as there is no decent supermarket - and not many shops! - in Koh Kong.
The location is fairly good too - quite close to the three foreign food restaurants and the bus ticket office, but 700 or 800 m to the riverfront.
My major complaint, the one thing that would stop me staying here again, I'm afraid, was the absolutely DREADFUL mattress: really thin, soft foam, it aggravated my lower back problem. (The only saving grace was that it was so puny that it compressed down to only a few cms thick, and you then started to feel some support from the wooden slats underneath!)
Also the general level of maintenance was very poor: lots of things in the room were broken - shower-head mount, bathroom extractor fan (fixed on request: probably just a loose wire), curtain rail (not secured by anything, kept falling down; couldn't be fixed), one of the neon strip lights (kept on flickering with light even when switched off - may be why I slept so badly there!!).
Cleaning is only done upon specific request (which is a bit odd, untypical for Cambodia); but I perhaps wasn't missing much there - the standards didn't seem great (bathroom floor always left very wet, not mopped properly). Sheets and pillow slips were quite threadbare, had a lot of holes.
The sign outside appears to say '9.9' - which causes some unnecessary anxiety as to whether you've found the right place!
There were frequent power cuts, though usually very short (none longer than 10 or 15 minutes, most less than a minute); and at least the staff remembered to reset the wi-fi and the cable TV promptly each time (unusual in Cambodia!). Presumably this is a common problem in Koh Kong, which is really a pretty primitive place.
Prices are not super-cheap, for small-town Cambodia: a place like this is really only worth $6 or $7 a night for a fan room, perhaps $10-12 for A/C (can't see why you'd ever need it), and perhaps a dollar or two less than that during 'low season' - you shouldn't pay more. I'd say it's probably worth haggling on arrival, rather than booking ahead online.
