Nice family run hotel

Stopped here on my way south through Belgium from the Eurotunnel, a 2 hr drive. Nice modern hotel, ample parking, quiet location, family run. Good sized room with all the usual extras. Splendid restaurant, gourmet dining, food excellent. Also has a brasserie.

Outdated rooms

The hotel has a nice bar and entrance hall, but the rooms were very outdated. It smelled musty in the room and the bathroom was definitely in need of renovation/refresher. Yellowed plastic, broken wood due to moisture next to the bath, tap that does not work properly,... .
The breakfast was basic but good.

Asparagus festival

Went to the asparagus festival in Shamrock on Saturday evening, April 27, 2024.
This was a very big disappointment for the entire group of friends!
On the full menu, which consisted of a number of courses, there were barely 3 asparagus, the portions were so small that we ended up very hungry.
This is in contrast to previous years where we were lavishly spoiled and left the table without being hungry.
The icing on the cake, all media and the menu on the table say All inclusive, while at 10:45 PM our table was cleared of drinks and everything became chargeable!!!!!

In need of makeover/renovation.

Friendly welcome, cozy bar, both inside and outside, restaurant slightly less pleasant, quite dark, friendly staff, food is ok.
There is an exaggerated smell of perfume in the hallway and in the hotel rooms, I have already read reviews about cigarette smoke, but trying to mask this with a lot of perfume does not make it any better, in the room I immediately opened the window wide, the smell -of perfume- was barely bearable.
The rooms are neat and nicely decorated, but they do look dated, there is no air conditioning and no fly screen, resulting in a sleepless night due to mosquitoes. Breakfast again ok, not overly extensive; Nevertheless. The breakfast room is again dated.
In short: need for a stylish total renovation.

Good hotel

Probably best choice in Tielt and surroundings. Modern room, all facilities present, good restaurant, free parking. I'd like it; Glass walls for bathroom but this is not a problem. Very good heating system (i was in winter period)
