Food was really very good
we were at the restaurant for brunch - grilling was the theme. The appetizers (the presentation and the small bowls) were excellent - very tasty: Cured fish from lake and sea, beet tartare - truly delicious. Main courses: Lamb, shrimp, fish, spare ribs, Angus beef steak - wonderful. And the dessert, profiteroles, crème brûlée, panna cotta, tarts, cannoli, nougat dumplings with apricot sauce, simply delightful.
However, one thing bothered me a lot - many men (whether old or young) were wearing shorts in the restaurant. Couldn't you require a dress code there, at least long pants?! It is such a great restaurant, one could really dress nicer there.

Totally overrated
Totally overrated
We wanted to treat ourselves to two nice days at the resort, but at least as far as I am concerned, I was severely disappointed.
The arrival and check-in went smoothly, but in the room, I was already met with the first surprise. A metal folding door mimicked the entrance to the toilet. Nothing to close it, and it had an acoustic effect like a curtain. Sorry, but there are moments in life when one enjoys their isolated solitude.
During the cellar tour, there was enough time afterward to address my complaint. Since there was no solution upon our return, the hotel manager got involved, who merely said: "There is nothing we can do."
Admittedly, the hotel was fully booked according to the reception, but the indifference with which I was left alone was something I did not expect at this price level. The "guest is king" philosophy is not lived by the management at all. So I had to live with the situation, not knowing that this circumstance would play a significant role later on. The subsequent dinner was not extraordinary, nothing that I had not already been served in other hotels. Personally, I always examine the salad buffet at dinner, especially the potato salad, very closely, as it represents a quality criterion for me. You won't find homemade potatoes in it; the nearest METRO is only 30 km away. Upon arriving in the room, I experienced severe digestive issues from the food, which kept me awake for half the night. Exhausted from the night, we came to breakfast the next morning, which somehow met expectations. The day in the wellness area was relaxing, as we had almost the entire spa area to ourselves for the whole day. I still had in mind that the hotel was supposed to be completely booked. I would have expected more people there. In the evening and at night, the events of the previous day repeated themselves, with the difference that now my wife showed solidarity with me and my stomach pains. Ultimately, we left the hotel in a hurry the next morning to recover from the ordeal at home. As a farewell, I received a bottle of wine at the reception due to the missing toilet door in the room. At least it was an attempt to improve the situation. Converted to the room price, the drop didn't even reach the hot stone. The receptionist showed understanding and also mentioned that you have had problems with these so-called bathroom doors since the first day. However, all rooms will gradually be converted to normal doors. I would have actually expected this open style of communication from the hotel manager.
In summary:
PRO:
- All staff were very polite and accommodating.
Clean room, with a large TV.
Sufficiently large SAP area for the summer. An expansion is already in progress.
CON:
Toilet folding thing (aka door), or however you want to name it.
As in so many hotels, there is also no good lighting in the bathroom here.
Dinner: No idea how it is cooked or seasoned.
Management: A suit does not make a good manager.
Would I come back?
If I still need two days of recovery from the vacation, there is no reason for it.
Would I recommend it?
Only if I don't like someone.
Conclusion:
Compared to my last stay at the "Excelsior Dolomites Life Resort," I was disappointed in every respect here.

When you see the impressive resort standing out from the plain at Andau, the view is somewhat ambivalent, as this building is really not well integrated into the landscape. Upon arrival, one is impressed by the architecture and ambiance. The reception was friendly and professional; it is strange that all the signs are only in English—doesn't one have much national awareness here? The room is very elegant and exudes coziness through the use of wood. The restroom is separate and accessed through steel folding doors; this may be original and is a matter of taste. The bathroom is also very elegant, but here too, the architect did not consider that one might want to place something within reach next to the sink. The room is very bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a small balcony, and a view of—an industrial hall. Scheiblhofer is not to blame; the views are simply not very appealing despite all efforts.
Regarding the cuisine: One can only say: Top-notch. It doesn't get much better than this. Variety, presentation, flavor balance, wine pairing (excellent - of course!), and staff: everything is truly flawless. Additionally, the seating is very comfortable. One level better: the breakfast. We are frequent travelers, but we rarely have such a wonderful breakfast; diverse, regional and international, fresh, beautifully arranged - simply excellent.
We did not utilize the spa services.
In Burgenland, the Scheiblhofer Resort is certainly the top choice next to the St. Martins Thermal Spa, and rightly so. We came from Donnerskirchen after golfing and did not regret the rather long journey due to the necessary detour around Lake Neusiedl.
Regarding the cuisine: One can only say: Top-notch. It doesn't get much better than this. Variety, presentation, flavor balance, wine pairing (excellent - of course!), and staff: everything is truly flawless. Additionally, the seating is very comfortable. One level better: the breakfast. We are frequent travelers, but we rarely have such a wonderful breakfast; diverse, regional and international, fresh, beautifully arranged - simply excellent.

International Standard!
Booked an overnight stay as a surprise for my husband’s birthday. We we’re impressed with the Resort and their standard. Staff was friendly, rooms clean and modern. Food great and their pool / spa program great!

Great house, without children it would be even better
Great house, but kids are out of place in a hotel with winery. Great food, great ambience, nice rooms, but in the environment just doesn't fit any child screaming. Here, the concept is not fully understood. Too bad, otherwise we'd be regular customers.
