GREAT LOCATION!! The only down side is the noise but they do provide ear plugs so its manageable and it does get really hot and stuffy in the room with only the fans (I came end of Feb in 25°). But overall those downs sides can't beat the great location.

LOUD and HOT- this place should reform or shut down
Cons: LOUD and HOT. I have previously lived in the CBD, travelled the world, and love budget accommodation, and this is by far the worst place I have ever booked. You're greeted (after 2 flights of narrow stairs without a lift) with loud city noises from George St and Liverpool St not too far below the room. Ok, other than the occasional ambulance puncturing that noise with loud sirens, that can become a sort of generic hum that is not unexpected in this location. However, at night, this location also hosts a LOUD karaoke event until the early hours of the morning. You can hear word for word every rendition of Living on a Prayer. The room shakes with the noise. This is even with the windows closed. The worst part for me, however, was how stiflingly HOT and HUMID the room becomes, even with the windows open (but you have to close them because of the noise). The ceiling fan and plug in fan kindly provided is no match for a humid Sydney night in a poorly ventilated room. It literally made me feel like I was going to throw up and I had to take medications to try to prevent a migraine. I found myself googling other accommodation options at 3am and rationalising to myself how this accommodation is different from sleeping on the streets.
I tolerated the noise better than my husband (who required ear plugs AND noise cancelling headphones), but the heat was absolutely insufferable.
The accommodation does attribute the noise to city living. I have lived in the city before. These rooms have zero noise insulation- that's why they're noisy. This place should not exist. Either turn the entire building into a night venue, or insulate the rooms from sound and allow adequate climate control.
Also it was kind of funny/ awkward to make eye contact with people in the night venues across the road from my accommodation.
Pros: I did appreciate the keyless entry. The staff at the pub (who I understand can help if you have any accommodation queries) I happened to run into were very nice, but otherwise I appreciated not having to make small talk to check in (because there is no reception). The hotel did send me a warning email that there is kareoke on during my booking and there's no lift and no place to store luggage. I just would have appreciated a warning about the HEAT. There is a small basin with water in the rooms, towels and a tiny soap/shampoo/conditioner provided. I found the bathrooms tolerable (although I always wear thongs/flip flops when using communal bathrooms). There's a window sill to put things down but nothing to hold toiletries in the shower. The bed was comfortable (although the sheets were a little itchy). The decor is cute. The location near Capitol and the train stations is great. The power plugs were working fine. The cost for a private room was fine (but far too much given the utter lack of heat control).

Good, basic stay in the middle of sydney downtown. Good sized room and comfortable bed.

Shared bathroom. Worked out alright. Just above a karaoke and pub. Didn’t bother me. Had fans. But was central to everything and easy to access with self check in

Decent size room. Right in a busy cool part of Sydney. No toilet, but the toilets are close. Really clean room and facilities. I'd fully recommend to busy travellers. It's definitely not quiet as there's bars and noise everywhere. I loved the noise and buzz of everything. The streets get quiet around midnight during the week nights and later in the weekend. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, this is not for you. Personally, i thought the room was perfect!
