Excellent family stay close to Chinatown and public transport
We stayed here for 3 nights on our trip to Sydney and had a great experience. Our room was a twin bed setup with a newly renovated ensuite. It also had a balcony, which was nice for looking out at the busy streets at night.
We loved the morning buffet breakfast. They have barista made coffee available if you need it, the restaurant is very clean, and the staff are always attentive.
The location is ideal as it sits on the border of Haymarket and Darling Harbour, right next to the Chinatown Night Market. It is incredibly close to public transport and just a 20 minute tram ride away from Circular Quay. It is a highly recommended place to stay if you are visiting Sydney with small kids, especially because they have a great family deal where kids eat free from the kids menu or buffet when eating with a paying adult.
If you are driving, there is a multi-level parking station called the Cinema Centre car park just a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. It costs 45 per night, and you can just ask the helpful reception staff if you have any questions about how it works.

Beware, shady "hotel"
One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at in Australia. Horrible room, even worse service. The room was filthy and clearly not properly cleaned, with basic amenities missing. The fridge was not cold enough and my ice cream melted even in the freezer compartment.
The staff gave us incorrect information, and housekeeping entered our room despite us hanging the “Go Green” sign on the door. When we raised this with reception, they immediately backed up the housekeepers without investigating, saying they had to do a “routine safety check” – even though we had asked them for amenities that same morning and they had already taken down our room number.
It has been a year since I checked out and the memory of the stay still bothers me. I’m genuinely surprised this place is still operating and hasn’t been flagged for suspicious behaviour. It took more than a month for them to return my deposit. If I hadn’t gone back to the room at midday and discovered that housekeeping had left the balcony door unlocked, I might have walked into an arranged burglary.
It is terrifying that people with such poor conduct are allowed to work there. It felt less like a normal hotel and more like a place run by a shady group. Beware.

Great location, room is spacious and has a kitchenette. Perfect for a few days in Sydney. Highly recommend.

This type of one bedroom apartment was unsuitable for hire. Really Disappointed that Ridges would even consider letting for someone to stay in that particular run down room. Curtains had tears, inner curtains all stained, 2 seater all stained, carpet stained, kitchen not fit for a hostel, I could go on, however we did say to reception and they confirmed the hotel was full and they would provide a refurbished one bed apart the following day.
Next day at reception we were informed that they were having to charge extra for the change of room.
We ended up taking a lesser open plan refurbished room but they could not provide any refund as this room cost less.
Happy once moved for the final 2 nights in the open plan apartment.
