WOW What a great find

We were looking for somewhere to stay that would gives as good access to the Bay of Fires and Freycinet. We could not have chosen better. Oakdene was amazing. The attention to detail was fantastic from the chocolates to the cookies to the candles in the bathroom. It has been beautifully refurbished whilst keeping so much of the original architecture. This place had everything we needed. Great breakfast provisions, exceptional toiletries and the owners let us use their BBQ for dinner one night. The furnishings were so tasteful will do many little artefacts that blended in with the property. The grounds are beautiful with lots of spots to sit outside and relax. We could not have picked a better place.

All expectations exceeded

Wow. We were blown away by generous size, top quality renovations, gorgeous bathroom and extensive breakfast supplies. Service was great. The room was spotlessly clean, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Note that dinner options in St Mary’s itself are somewhat limited, so you might be glad of the handy kitchenette.

Beautiful heritage accomodation

Stayed one night. Barry and Sonja were perfect hosts. Very COVID safe all precautions adhered to fully. It has been decorated to a very high standard and makes you feel like you are stepping back to another era in time. Breakfast provisions plentiful. Cereal, milk, bread, butter, fruit and yoghurt. Lots of choice of jams and spreads and juice and tea and coffee. Toiletries of high quality. Bathroom is gorgeous with claw foot bath. Water pressure fantastic, Wifi reception great. You can also stroll and sit around the beautiful gardens and they even have a stream running through the property.
Right in the centre of town only a couple of minutes walk to the local hotel. There is also a couple of cafes, a bakery next door and 2 supermarkets within a couple of minutes walk.
Highly recommended and nice to support a smaller community on the east coast of Tasmania.

Gorgeous B&B

This heritage B&B is set in lush spacious gardens next to the creek in St Marys and just over the bridge from the shops and pub. Our suite/annex had been painstakingly decorated in heritage style - including a stunning bathroom with a ball and claw bath and a small kitchenette. We found it a little strange staying here because our hosts were away on business so we didn't see them at all. This would have been fine but the internet didn't work on our first evening (this was quickly rectified the next morning) and we ran out of milk on the second and last morning of our stay. There are a couple of decent eating options in town - but we loved Feed the Dragon (authentic Chinese) so much that we went there for dinner on both nights of our stay.

A gem of a B&B

Our host Jodi was welcoming and made us feel at home. The facilities at this B&B included everything self contained, and definitely had a 'wow' factor. Really comfortable lounge chairs which were really appreciated at the end of a long day of travel. The room was beautifully clean. The surrounds of the cottage were homely and the colonial style added an extra dimension.
St Marys is a lovely little town with friendly people, good pub meals and located close to the Bay of Fires and east coast.
